DKR is a great pick :)

It happens. I've been wanting a new DKR for a long time. One day!

50 - Probably the most out-of-left-field one on my list and the only game I'd argue is 'bad'. Dinosaurs and vore. Also it has an arcade version that's trash.
49 - WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOORRRRRRR?!
48 - IT's a weird game that straddles the line between being grounded and so serious it makes you cry being kind of absurd and outlandish, especially in its DLC.
47 - Honestly, in terms of 2D Platformers this is honestly the pinnacle of its series in terms of level and world design even though most people seem to dislike it.
46 - Retro revival done right. It's not shovel knight but I think it's just as good, taking from a different set of NES and SNES games and styles.

#50) Bubble Bobble? I don't know about the game's quality, but that's the one game ported from arcades I can think of that combines Dinosaurs and Vore.
#49) Mega Man X4?
#46) I'm guessing Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. Your Shovel Knight comparison made me think of 2D platforming games released around the same time, and Shantae is one of those while taking different inspirations than Shovel Knight.

50 - Nope
49 - YEP! (I was going to say how it 'has two vastly different campaigns depending on the character you pick' but chose against it. Too easy.
46 - Naw. Sorry. I haven't actually played Shantae but if it fits the bill I might give it a shot! Sounds like my sort of game!

| Salnax said: Just finished my list! I don't usually do the Hint thing, but I might as well give it a try. 50. A PC grand strategy game that uses the most cliche setting. 49. An early spinoff to a mega-franchise from the 90's. 48. The latest entry in one of Nintendo's less popular longtime series. 47. The Saga that helped make the GBA into a JRPG powerhouse. 46. The first entry in a series that became known for an unnecessarily complex plot. |
Would have guessed the same as Mnementh for 48 and 47, but for 46 my guess is on Kingdom Hearts.

So people, I've been thinking that I should find a way to participate on this thread this year. Given what my list is though, there's simply no point in trying to have people guess like what the next entries thereon will be. That's not an opinion, it's a matter of experiential fact. In past years, I've tried participating here on the Discussion Thread in the normal way, only to consistently have nobody guess anything successfully, and soon everybody just gives up on trying. That's been the pattern. Fact is that my favorite games are overwhelmingly indies, most of which it seems not so many people have even heard of before.
So yeah, that's why I just post the whole list to the Official Thread right away anymore and haven't bothered with these Discussion Threads in recent years. No point in doing anything else, plus frankly I don't think anyone really cares about my preferences anyway. Not instinctively anyway. HOWEVER...I'm thinking maybe I can find a way to make you halfway care. The question is how.
I'm open to suggestions! I'm looking for some unconventional way to be a part of this Discussion Thread that might be of interest to you (anyone). Here are some ideas that I've had:
Idea 1: I could follow the Runa model from last year and explain why I love say my top five or top ten favorite games as much as I do at some length. I really enjoyed reading those posts and think I'd enjoy writing some similar ones of my own too, though I've not tried my hand with banners yet, so any version of this by me may wind up looking less fancy, unfortunately. (I hope I could figure banners out though, 'cause they just add a little something to the presentation.) That is if there's any demand.
Idea 2: Alternatively, I could add a second table to my one post in the Official Thread wherein I create additional lists of favorite stuff based on whatever people here request. I love making lists of my favorite stuff! It's a fun way to share a little more about myself. Want a list of my NEXT 50 favorite games? There's an option that can be requested! Want a list of my five favorite PlayStation 1 games by year of release? There's another option you can request! Actually, it's possible that I may just do that anyway because it sounds particularly fun. Anyway, want me to list the episodes of Serial Experiments Lain in order of my preference from favorite to least? There's yet another option! (Doesn't have to game-related, just whatever. Unless your request is like my favorite sex positions; then sorry. :P Use your common sense.) Want a list of my favorite characters in order from a game appearing in the top 10 on the Official Thread? There ya go! You get the idea. These are just hypotheticals. You have no idea how many of these types of lists I already have saved to Google Docs just because I enjoy making them and may already have ready to share. Yes, I'm that much of a dork.
Idea 3: Something else you can come up with.
Idea 4: I can leave and stop bothering you with stuff you're not the least bit curious about. :P
Any interest? Suggestions?

You're not bothering anyone. Or if you are, honestly, that's their problem.
I don't like that you're thinking about how much 'demand' there is, this thread is about expressing yourself and seeing people's passionate opinions about the wildest games is the best thing about it. Granted, your list is too wild for the guessing game, so I get your frustration with that, but I'd love to read your feelings on all these games I've never heard of. Like, here are all of us every year, struggling not to repeat each other's words for the 200th time when writing about Breath of the Wild, while you have like a gold mine of new discourse.
That said I can't think of any other ideas, but hey, I also like to make all sorts of top 10 lists for pretty much anything I get invested in, so you're not alone on that. And this event is basically a big list-fest, so you should be at home with these. Just uhh, try to keep them at least a little bit on-topic? I'm not sure we need to start posting hints for our #14 favorite fridge brand here.

Correct for #46!
