Forums - Gaming - What Game Would Be As Good, If Not Better In A Different Genre?

Tokyo Mirage Sessions as a SRPG, which is what I thought it was originally going to be.

I don't want to get rid of TMS #FE, which I enjoyed a lot, but I would like to see this done as a companion game from Intelligent Systems' standpoint, since we got the Atlus version.

Fallout 3 and 4 as an isometric turn based RPG…

…oh wait thats Fallout 1 and 2 which are far superior to 3 and 4.

Checkout Wasteland 3 if you haven't. I would rather see Inxile make an isometric Fallout which is a possibility now.

Pokémon as an auto battler.

Auto chess, Dota Underlords and LoL teamfight Tactics all have similar gameplay. One thing they have in common is to collect three of the same unit in order to get an updated version to place on the battlefield. I think this would work nice with Pokémon who have a given upgrade to most units. Collect three Charmander - get a Charmeleon, collect three Charmeleon - gat a Charizard.

Instead of money, get pokéballs that is used to "buy" or rather catch new Pokémon for your team.

But most importantly, using the different Pokémon type as a way to get a deeper battle system. One where types have an edge over other types. Taking into consideration that an evolved Pokémon might have a different type than the unit one started with.

I love auto battlers and since Pokémon has branched out into the moba genre, I'm hopeful that they will create their own unique take on auto chess.

Gran Turismo as a dating sim. Don't ask me how but it would work.

Try Fallout Van Buren, the original in-development build of Fallout 3 before Bethesda got their hands on the franchise.

I would also recommend total conversion mods, Fallout Nevada and Fallout Resurrection. I'm patiently waiting for English translation of Fallout Sonora as well.

Kingdom Hearts would be better as a straight up 3D platformer/action hack n slash game. I think all the RPG elements go over the heads of the young audience that Disney appeals to (nostalgic adults aside). I know that when I bought the first game at 10 years old I had no idea it was even an RPG...

Please no

The platforming elements of Kingdom Hearts were always deadly awful, clunky and annoying. They were so bad in first game they've changed the level map design to have as little platforming as possible in next games

And RPG elements in KH were always very lean and straightforward, I was always 8 when played it first and never had any issue. The only games that I suppose to be beyond a kids ability would be Birth By Sleep and not because of the RPG elements, rather because of the overpowered enemies (even minions can easily beat you in some maps)

Persona 5 strikers shouldn't be a boring warriors game, but a common action adventure where you just fight normal enemies and minions

Metroid as a FPS with vehicles and open landscapes, a la Halo. While I do value the prime series for what it is, I’d like to see the environments expand much bigger but of course keep the hidden treasures riddled throughout. Plus I never really liked the combat in prime, especially dislike getting locked in a room with pirates and very annoying music. Would be very satisfying to snipe and mow down waves of enemies from various covers and vehicles.

Castlevania as a Souls Like.

The fact that they removed the platforming elements is the largest reason why I did not like any kingdom hearts past the first game. I loved exploring the rooftops of the town and when you got the ability to glide in the air it was such a delight. The second game felt like cutscene-fight-corridor walk on repeat. I think the second game is considered the best in the series but for me it is the game that made me uninterested in any further KH games.

My taste in games might not match the general public, but a kingdom hearts game built more like an action platform game with less RPG-elements is something I at least would take a second look at.
