Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu sales: Week 10, 2022 - (28th Feb - 6th Mar)

Good opening for Triangle Strategy, given it's a new IP and strategy games aren't the most popular genre.

And I've been out of the loop, but I expected more from GT.

This is has probably been the most interesting week of the generation in terms of software sales. Nice to see some actual Playstation representation. Hardware wise though it is still very Switch heavy.

I think GT7 did similar to GT Sport.

Elden Ring doing quite well, might leg it out past 400k in 2 weeks and 500k beyond.

Switch passes 24m. It has sold 1m in less than 3 months. 1.5m for next 6 months should be bare minimum, and at least 1.5m for holidays as well.

The switch is around 8 million away from taking #1 for the ds
Its going to be a close one

I feel like it should do another 4 millions this year and will probably be able to sell another 4 over the next 2 years. I doubt it won't become the best selling system in Japan.

Yeah should be right around 29 million at end of this year. I could see it doing another 5+ over the next two years, putting it at 34 mil which would pass the DS, assuming Switch 2 Spring 2025. In that case it'd probably end up 35+ million.

Switch will almost certainly pass DS. Only way it doesn't is if they cut if off early like in two years, but doesn't seem like Nintendo has any plans of that.

Doesn't shock me the PS5 version outsold the PS4 version. I bet some PS4 owners bought the Special Edition which is a PS5 disc with a PS4 code. So their purchase will be counted as PS5 instead of PS4. Same holds true for other regions.

With all these releases, I really wonder how high the PS5 could be selling.

Has anyone the number of Octopath Traveler's first week in Japan?

01./00. [NSW] Octopath Traveler (Square Enix) {2018.07.13} (¥6.800) - 109.579 / NEW <80-100%>

Note: The post above me is the MediaCreate number.  The one I post here is Famitsu, so more apples-to-apples comparison.

Thanks! I guess digital sales have a higher percentage nowadays than back in 2018. Or are digital sales included in Famitsu numbers? I'm not sure.

Triangle Strategy had a bigger install base, while Ocotpath was a round-based battle RPG instead of a strategy type. However, both games had a good first week ^^

Exactly. Streets are saying there is a new revision coming later this year. With that and the MK8 DLC pack, i doubt we will see a successor until 2 years. Giving it enough time to surpass the DS in japan and, i'll say it, WW.

A year ago many thought the Switch was not going to beat the DS in japan and it's looking like a sure thing now. Expecting the same reaction for WW in a few months.

Switch is coming up on the 3DS mighty fast.
