Wasn't Switch at 102.76M, on the front page at least, last week already? Or am I seeing things.

Adios PS1; you were a worthy opponent, and an excellent system in your own right, but the Switch train barrels on.
Switch is now less than 14 million behind the PS4.

Hasn't it already, at least in terms of quantity? Count for new games (remakes allowed, remasters not, neither our exclusive third party games, nor digital only games as I'm trying to compare quantity output of bigger games): PS4 2013 - 2 retail games PS4 2014 - 5 retail games PS4 2015 - 6 retail games PS4 2016 - 6 retail games PS4 2017 - 9 retail games PS4 2018 - 6 retail games PS4 2019 - 5 retail games PS4 2020 - 6.5 (Miles Morales) PS4 Average - 4.96 games a year PS5 2020 - 2.5 (Miles Morales) PS5 2021 - 4 PS5 Average (so far) - 3.25 games per year. We know Sony will pick it up as history proves, but even comparing 2013/2014 to 2020/2021, PS4 averaged 3.5 games per year (or .25 more a year) than PS5 so far. It's the start of a new gen. Sonys 1st party games will ramp up but so will MS.

What? I was told the Switch would never outsell the PS4.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
My Bet With curl-6
My Threads:
Master Thread, Game of the Year/Decade

Don't worry Cliff™ will come any day now.
I hear people talking about the people talking about the cliff all the time yet I never hear people talking about the cliff these days.

It might have been. The front page graph pulls data from here - https://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/ - which for whatever reason doesn't always take into account adjustments until the next hardware update is posted. The page needs an overhaul, but we don't have the resources to do so right now. |
Now it says 103m.. are you sure the numbers in your OP are correct?

Holy shit, I had no idea Switch passed 100,000,000. What does it sell a year? Wonder if it will pass PS4 and how high it will end up.

Yes and long term this should only improve. If Xbox can still relatively close through the first 3 quarters of 2022 I think they will be in outstanding position for the remainder of the generation. |
The current ratio can't quite depict actual demand, only supply, so probably won't be til late 2022/early 2023 that we get a real picture.
