Now let's criticize Nintendo for taking their sweet 4 and a half years.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
PS Vita loses yet another exclusive
Better late than never I guess.
LAG. people are already complaining about lag.
and people wonder why no console offers non specialised bluetooth audio as an option...

Seriously. I gave up on it after 10 minutes. It apparently depends on the device you use though, so should they release their own stuff, it should work without audio latency.

aptX LL is not common.
Makers don't worry about bluetooth latency as they are mainly used for music and phone calls.
Tried it with a few games myself
I've not had any of the audio lag other users are getting, and the sound quality is pretty good for me.
But of corse nintendo had to ninten-do it, and put these silly restrictions on it
Once again, a step forward for nintendo is like a step forward for a drunken dog on an icy lake

There was literally no other way to implement it in the current Switch.
They had to give up BT bandwidth for most controllers, otherwise the audio quality would have been terrible.

basically.
bluetooth headsets for gaming specifically is a VERY small niche market.
most headphones are for music and video playing.
and while the gaming headphone market is somewhat large, like, 90% of it is wired for obvious reasons(zero lag, and no loss of audio when using mic).
hell, very few wireless headphones even work with PS or xboxes.
the vita had bluetooth mostly becasue it was marketed as a multimedia device, like the psp before it.

Yeah. Does anyone know what codecs Nintendo will be supported?
