I know. It's just a phrase I coined for when people make leo-j-esque arguments.

I've had a Wii since launch and so far the only games that actually made me flail about were Rayman Raving Rabbids, Mario Party 8, and Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. Other than that it's been pretty solid pointing and shooting/selecting, and buttons and small comfortable gestures.
All i have to say is welcome and you and starcraft will get on just fine

And yes, maybe I rated the hardware first and foremost but if you don't like the hardware you have little or no chance of liking the games.... at least in the case of Wii where the hardware "is" the gameplay. Same with DS, the Resident Evil 1 remake, and many other games, to me at least just forced stylus gameplay or added it when it wasn't even needed. If it ain't broke don't fix it, Castlevania never needed stylus drawn spells to increase the fun and to me it just detracts from it. But look, I realize the masses have spoken, they like the Wii and the DS, they sale like insanity. I'm happy for nintendo because they've had a hard run of it. I just can't state enough how I am a traditional gamer and the Wii is the opposite of that, VC aside. I'm not going to Troll though, I just like discussion. As long as everyone realizes my bias comes for the Wii NOT Nintendo we'll be fine. And I'm not even gonna push it down everyones throat, but I will stand up for the games and systems I like and should someone trash them speak up, that's fine right? That's what everyone here does isn't it? Don't worry, I respect opinion and take it for what it is. If I do rag on something I will afford the luxery of at least having a REASON for it. I hope that's okay. BTW, nice icon. Sin City=Best Movie to come out in last five years, easily. |
Hehe. I do want you to think about this, however:
Several Wii and DS games don't use the motion controls or touchscreen for a main gameplay device.
I consider the best games on each system to be:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney(DS)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn(Wii)
Both of these games don't require even the slightest use of the hardwares functionality, both are overlooked, and both add a tremendous amount of value to the hardware as a purchase, since they are exclusives.
While you may be correct, that twitch based games require you to use motion/touch controls, which you don't like, just remember that not all games, nor will all games for the systems be easily categorized as a "wagglefest," and indeed there are far more hardcore games with traditional controls for both systems than their detractors would like to admit.
Thanks for responding with class.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
I agree with the Wii statements, especially the part that if i wanted to get into shape I'd go to the gym, not wave my arms around or lean on a white board (wii fit).
I am a fanboy though. Never owned a nintendo console (except gameboy), and always owned Sony consoles.
Zen. Points taken. Honestly I could see myself getting a Wii at some point and just avoiding the "wagglefests" lol. But there is no need for me now, I'm doing good to feed my 360 with all the games coming out I want. What I honestly hope is that Nintendo will go more of a V.R. direction with the system, release a helmet/screen and allow head movement controls, integrate that with the Wiifit board and you might could have some poor man's V.R. Right now it's just not.
I will say the one thing I did love was how driving felt... and I'm basing this off the 5 second driving mini game in Wario Ware but I did see potential there. Of course I could just pick up a steering wheel for my current system and get the same effect.
Pointing and aiming felt loose to me though, like I said somewhere else I felt NES Zapper felt more precise.

You don't flail your arms around wildly. Nice try leo-j, but you never had one.

What do you call Wii Sports Boxing?
I kid. I kid.
Anyways, welcome to the forums. Look forward to seeing you around.
PSP in my opinion is probably the best of the two, I know that strikes disagreement but just my opinion. Loved the games, loved the features, first Sony system I ever bought on day one. Traded mine in because of a "I need gamestop credit stat!" situation but fully plan on buying the slim version someday soon.
