Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Big Directs vs Mini Directs

Which ones you prefer

Big Directs 24 70.59%

Mini Directs 9 26.47%

No Directs 1 2.94%

Total:34

I hate questions like this because the answer is always going to be context sensitive. I have no reason to draw a line in the sand and say "I ONLY WANT big directs!" just like I don't have any reason to the say the opposite either. It's obviously based on the content which they do or do not have to show. Even the way Nintendo names these directs is partially based on that. Pretty sure one of their mini directs was as long as a "full" direct.

In the case of yesterday, I would have preferred the direct to be much shorter.

The poll needs another option: both. I like both.

Two big ones a year. I guess that would be one early in the year and the E3 one. I would rather know what comes out in the next 6 months instead of smaller ones focusing on a couple of months at a time.

I'll go with the strategy from last year

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Bigger the better. Pretty much every big game I loved on Switch or Wii U got announced in big directs. Never really had anything in a mini or indie direct.

Big direct just generate more hype.

Pocky Lover Boy!

The size of the direct needs to have a corresponding association with the content being presented.

I.E. If it's just one big announcement and a few smaller ones, then a mini direct is fine.

If you have a ton of heavy hitters that are ready to be showcased, then a big direct is the best bang for buck.

Look, I know us in the West all hated this last direct, but it had a LOT of announcements in it that were appealing to Asian gamers. I know we like to think we are all that matters, those of us living in NA and Europe, but Japan, Korea, China, etc. all matter too. So this last direct wasn't bad it just didn't include much I cared for.

I for one didn't hate it.

I enjoy Big Directs more, but the best way would be to have both depending on games that are ready to be shown as many have already said, cause if a Direct is announced as a mini or a regular we know to adjust our hype accordingly.

This thread is not for ranting against the last direct though. We already have a bunch of other thread to this...

Sorry, I assumed the op was implying big directs were bad in response to the last one. I misinterpreted the meaning of this thread.
