Forums - Gaming - Most overrated game of the past gen?

Games that I actually beat Celeste and Dead Cells. Game that I only played for a bit The Witcher 3. No idea how Celeste got 94 metascore its a 6/10 for me. and Dead Cells is a 7/10 not a 91.

I'm not sure why this is an argument in this thread, but to call a game overrated you absolutely should have spent time with the game. Maybe you don't have to beat it...but it should be an amount of time that is considerable. Otherwise you are basing your opinion on very little, and, in return, it holds very little weight.

Don't throw your two cents in if you didn't earn them IMO

As a Zelda fan, dishonor goes to BotW.

1. I'm surprised nobody mentioned one of my all-time favourite games Ghost of Tsushima. Everything, except the graphics and atmosphere is very generic (but obviously I loved it).

2. I'm surprised Cyberpunk 2077 only got one mentioning. Has nobody played the game? I think objectively speaking, it's the most overrated game ever!

3. Personally, for me, most open-word games are overrated. They are simply boring and I hate when companies make open world games if it's not necessary, just because they are fashion. Developers, take our fingers out of your asses and actually design levels/missions. No open world is necessary to do that. As funny as it sounds I do think most of today's developers have lost the skill to design levels/missions as it is so much easier to generate a generic open word. Use Unreal Engine 4, make some tweaks on already finished objects/textures, copy-pace the mission design of another successful generic open world game, make some tweaks to it and you have a field day. Latest example: Cyberpunk 2077 - as generic and boring as it gets (but no using UE4)!

4. Actually, you could put every Nintendo game on this list as they all tend to be overrated (and I personally love many Nintendo games).

5. Generally, all free-to-play and eSports games are a turnoff for me but that's a personal taste.

6. In the last 25 years every game was overrated for me personally simply because I can't get hyped for an unimportant hobby. I still like playing games but so-called must-have games left me cold for the most part.

The witcher 3, great story but really bad combat system and variety of missions. I finisced the game, but sometimes it was borring and ripetitive as hell.

Uncharted 4.

I didnt love the first game, the gameplay was an issue for me but it did set up some great characters and the chemistry of the cast is fantastic. But the second game is a masterpiece. I've replayed Uncharted 2 a few times now and it's my favourite in the series.

Uncharted 3 was a bit of a let down, but it was still good fun.

I dont know where to begin with Uncharted 4. The first 3rd of the game is utterly boring and melodramatic. When it picks up, sure it's fun, but I miss the supernatural elements and overall the game was just bland minus a few set pieces and nice cut scenes.

Man! You guys are really picky SMH

I found Red Dead Redemption 2 incredibly boring and disappointing.

Red Dead Redemption was phenomenal, Max Payne 3 was great for the time it was released and Grand Theft Auto 5 was a solid and fun game. I went into RDR2 with really high expectations and I just couldn't bring myself to continue playing it. Very tedious game.

I hope whatever they work on next is actually fun.

Sequels to two of my fav games of the PS3 gen and top 10 all time. Red Dead 2 and The Last of Us 2.

Hard to touch them. Seeing all the accolades bestowed.
