More hints:

35 - We couldn't figure out how to follow on from the last game's story, so we'll pretend you actually failed the campaign and Earth was conquered - and go from there. The newest entry in this series had a somewhat mixed reception (though I enjoy it) and featured the chance to team up with some of your former enemies to protect a revolutionary new city where humans and aliens live and work together. This is a turn-based strategy game where most missions entail landing from a dropship and capturing some kind of objective (I really can't make this any easier)

34 - A new open-world twist on a long-running series, this game allows you to build up an organisation by violently attaching people and hardware to parachutes.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (guessed by Jpcc86)

33 - This game's predecessor revolutionised third-person melee combat (and its style has been copied many times), and this game takes that combat to a much more open setting. It's not a Souls game.

32 - This latest entry in a beloved series sees you take control of a trio of protagonists with little in common who work together to organise a sequence of heists.

31 - Nobody particularly liked this game's predecessor, so this game threw out the concept and characters while keeping the same setting. The true ending is notoriously difficult to find, so only a very small percentage of players ever saw it.

#35: I don't know much about the modern XCOM, but it all sounds very much XCOM, so I assume it is XCOM2 from the reboot series.

Correct! I've actually never played classic XCOM but I really like both of the new games in the mainline series - Chimera Squad (the spinoff) is pretty good, but not everyone likes it.

Indeed it is. The series ends with the Battle of the Teutoburger Forest, one of the battles playable in the side-modes of this game.

Well, maybe I need to watch this Netflix series. I am not too keen on german TV or movies (as a german), as they are often shallow and unoriginal (much in difference to french movies). But there are exceptions, and so far Netflix proofed to mostly find the pearls.

Also, why not watch a take on Armin, the terrorist leader who brought down the roman army who wanted nothing else than bringing order and peace. Or so. (-;

It's not brilliant or anything, but it is well made, looks realistic (locations, costumes etc) and is acted good. Also noteworthy that the Romans actually speak Latin. I'd recommend it if you're into the period, and personally I'd watch a second season if it gets made. Especially when considering the story and characters appear to be quite truthful to what happend in real life, judging from my little (Wikipedia) research afterwards.

35) XCOM 2

I really enjoyed XCOM: Enemy Unknown (though it doesn't quite crack the top 50) but was a little bit sceptical of its sequel, which retconned the real ending in favour of an alternate ending where you failed to resist the alien invasion. Nonetheless this actually makes for a very interesting setup - being able to fly your home base all around the world, engaging in guerrilla warfare to disrupt the invasion however possible. I felt like there was more dynamism this time around: more random events, a greater variety of missions and the added incentive to advance and collect expiring resources rather than just hunkering down in cover and slowly advancing like the original encouraged. The multiplayer this time around was also surprisingly good, capturing the feel of the single player game whilst giving you a wider range of units to choose from.

I have to play the new XCOM at some point, as I am a really big fan of the old one. The first game will appear in my list at some point.

I also want to point out, that there are more projects by now in this direction. Some of the developers of the original XCOM (especially Julian Gollop) have their own project called Phoenix Point. That seems to develop into a Fallout/Wasteland/Outer Worlds situation. Good for us gamers, as not one series but multiple exist with different directions. Also there is a fan-project remaking the original UFO:Enemy Unknown (XCOM in the US) as a free hobby project UFO:Alien Invasion. It has more modern graphics, but tries to be as close to the original game as possible in the gameplay and story. Thought these projects might be interesting for someone liking XCOM.

At cursory look this games seems like Minecraft with a Dragon Quest paint. And that actually isn't that wrong. So initially I thought this game wouldn't be for me, because I never got warm with Minecraft in the first place. But DQB had a free demo on the eShop, and so I thought: why not, give it a try. A few hours later I hit the end of the demo and was surprised, as I had totally forgotten I only played the demo. I wanted to play on, but the game was still some time away from release, so I was awaiting the game eagerly.

What did it make work so much better than Minecraft for me? Well, basically simple things. Quests from the townspeople and the gratifying feeling then you have fulfilled it and townspeople come running and gather around you in a circle and clap their hands, because you built a sleeping room or whatever. Building feels with a purpose, as the game recognizes structures with some basic rules and counts them towards you village score and shows it to you with visual and acoustic feedback. Many buildings enticed also the people to do something, like in a kitchen the villagers started coooking or in a workshop building simple stuff. This was helpful for you. And some basic story with big boss fights that involve building stuff to fight them. These are simple changes on the surface, but they give building a purpose and that makes all the difference.

This game was fun and a good creative experience, because while you follow rules to create buildings, these rules are loose and give you much room to provide your own touch. You have a endgame free builders island too, in which you can build as you wish.

This time your adversary isn't some reborn evil like in most other games in the series, but a child playing pranks and getting into something dark.

Where were you, when Darashiva gave this hint, he meant Okami. I do not.
