Tried out Control. Pretty weird to see a game like that running on the Switch.

Pretty well for me. Its free to try.

It lets you download the launcher, and from there you can try the game for a brief period of time before deciding to buy it. So, people won't buy it not knowing it's streaming, or if their connection can handle it. |
That's surprisingly swell of them. No idea what the costs are of constantly streaming vs the one-time costs of creating a port are, but with the next generation of consoles on the way I have a hard time imagining too many non-indie PS5/XBX games could have been ported anyways.
That is possibly the most consumer-friendly move by a gaming company I've seen in years.

I tend to be more skeptical of companies. I'm assuming that with Nintendo's policies on returns, it could be a legal kerfuffle if you couldn't try before you buy. The problem of course is that my 10-15 minutes of play were fine, but that's no guarantee it will always be that way.
As for the cost of streaming, I imagine that would be based on how many people play it. If no one wants to play it, then it doesn't cost much, assuming the servers can be used for something else.
As for ports, I think you can for the most part, port anything to anything. They got Alpha 3 running on a GBA, and ported Xenosage 1 and 2 to one DS cartridge. Most of the PS5 games as of now are coming to PS4/XBone anyway, so I don't think it would be impossible to port the PS4 version to the Switch. Of course, the further you go, the lesser the quality and greater the cost, but if devs really wanted to, I think they could make most anything run in some form on the Switch.
Bravely Default 2 looks ..kinda of bad. The English VA isn't very good either
The new Story of Seasons looks pretty bad as well. Looks like Marvelous taking a page out of Natsume's now inferior version of Harvest Moon. However, it looks like the game is moving toward the direction of Stardew Valley, so that is a welcome change.
Definitely would like to try out the new Hyrule Warriors demo, as I liked the original to a large extent.
Overall, nothing shown really interested me, but a solid mini direct nonetheless with some new things announced.

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]
Finally seeing unobstructed gameplay of No More Heroes 3, plus seeing what Immortals will look like running on Switch and a new trailer for Age of Calamity made it a decent Direct for me.
I do worry about cloud gaming on Switch though; for millions of Switch owners it is not a viable option, and if it starts to replace proper native ports that'd be a huge problem in my opinion.
Not shocked that Bravely Default II got delayed, I think it's better than them delivering a rushed out product. Seems they took the demo feedback to heart, great to see all the improvemets they've made. Really looking forward to the game.

There is no other way to do this. Even late PS4/XBOX games are too much for the Switch, as we can see by the shameful port of Outer Words, so there is no feasible way to get ports of upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X games. A cloud game, even if being sold for a much smaller market of few million Switch owners who have the luxury of good network connection is better than a extremely downgraded version of a game that nobody wants
Is either getting those games on Cloud or not getting any ports anymore
