Finally got around to finishing Enterprise.
It really does pick up in Season 3 and 4 after the rather slow and uneven first two seasons. It's a shame it was cut short, and the final episode really does reek of a last-minute plug pull.
It still ranks below Next Gen, DS9, and Voyager for me, but now that I've seen the whole thing I'd still rank it above Discovery and Picard.

I just pretend Enterprise ends 1 episode sooner as it is a much better finale than what we ended up getting. Even the people running Star Trek at the time have admitted the episode was a bad idea for a series finale.

Yeah Terra Prime was a good episode, I wouldn't have minded it being the last of the series.

I still think Voyager has by far the best series finale in Endgame.

I agree Endgame is the best series finale in the series. Though, TNG finale was a great sendoff to the series, but it wasn't really a finale to the cast as they went straight into filming Generations. DS9 finale was decent, but it feels a bit rushed with how quickly the war ended.

I'd rank the finales as: Voyager > TNG > DS9 > Enterprise > TOS. Not that TOS had a real finale.

Yeah I did enjoy the conclusions to both TNG and DS9, Voyager's just felt the most like an epic, climactic sendoff.

I preferred TNG’s finale more than voyagers just due to the fact we waited 7 season and got nothing on the return to earth lol, I would have liked one more episode to just have some wrap see people getting to earth for the first time etc. DS9 had a very good ending as well.

Also I see so many people say how enterprise was so rocky in season 1-2 but I like season 1-2 more then 3/4, especially season 3, the xindi Arc was way too long and took up way to much of the episodes, I found it really boring. 4 was good and I could see them getting into a good grove but I also found a lot of the characters were ruined by that point as well.

I guess the first two seasons of Enterprise were just a bit too hit and miss for me; half were good, the other half were boring. The Xindi arc at least upped the stakes and added tension and momentum. I didn't feel like the characters were "ruined" by Season 4, though I would've preferred if Trip and T'Pol had stayed together.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Decided fuck it and just paid for Orville Season 2 on Youtube. So far I am absolutely loving it, more than any Trek series since Voyager in fact. It feels much more like Star Trek than either Discovery or Picard, even more so than Season 1 now that the parody angle has been played down a bit.

It really does seem like a love letter to classic Trek and I didn't realize how much I'd missed that X factor til I got it again.

Yeah, season 2 is great, really the only issue with it for me was my waifu leaving the show due to her actress and Seth MacFarlane breaking up and their work relationship becoming awkward.

They say she is welcome to come back in the future, both for guest roles or a main role, but she doesn’t seem to be back for season 3, at least as a main character, her replacement was seen in season 3 set photos.

Yeah it really sucked that Alara/Halston left, she was one of my favourites. Her replacement is cool on her own terms but not quite as likeable or cute.

Maybe now that her new series on Fox has been cancelled she will decide to come back for Orville season 4. And hopefully she at least has a guest appearance or two in season 3.

Season 3 should be just about finished filming now, covid really screwed it up, half the season filmed between October 2019 and March 2020 before covid halted it, then it resumed for 2 months in December 2020 and January 2021 until somebody got covid on set and it was halted again. Resumed in March 2021 and has been going ever since. Considering they are only doing 11 episodes that are about an hour long, you’d think they would already be done since half was filmed pre-Covid. Hopefully it is finished and in post-production now so that it will be ready before the end of the year. I think I heard they are aiming for an early October release.

Yeah a release late this year would be nice, hopefully we don't have to wait much longer than that. For the moment I'm trying to just take my time and savour Season 2, it almost feels like a new modernized season of Next Generation.

This is pretty much how I see it too… at least as far as the TNG, DS9, Voyager finales go—I haven’t seen Enterprise and TOS didn’t really have a series finale, that was kind of what the films were for.

While I did like TNG’s ending, I felt Voyager had a bit more oomph to it as an episode, and was much more satisfying as a finale.

I honestly don’t really recall DS9s ending as I found the whole war to be a bit anticlimactic compared to the build up to the war - granted, I watched DS9 AFTER Babylon 5, Stargate, Farscape, and Battlestar Galactica which all had much stronger stories regarding war, and felt much more visceral. So when watching DS9 and seeing this guy who carried himself like a University Dean, suddenly outclassing the greatest admirals in Star Fleet and the Klingon Empire with really whimsical style leadership, it felt a bit off. Also, the one time he made a mistake and went into a multi-episode depression and redemption arc was a bit frustrating. Then the Pah Wraith things that seemed like a really junior version of the Ori from Stargate. Anyway, I kind of felt like the war was a bit like the Farscape film that came out around two years after the show ended, a little bit contrived to get the war to the inevitable plot point. I admit, if I hadn’t seen all those other sci-fi’s with war and/or military focus first, I might have appreciated DS9 more. The one really exceptional part of the DS9 ending episodes I recall was Damar’s betrayal of the Dominion… but I am sure that happened before the finale.

Now, some might say the same about Voyager’s ending - they got to the desired ending. But Voyager was a little different, the ending occurred years before the beginning of the episode, and Janeway goes back in time to one of the moments where Voyager was in range of a path home through a Borg trans warp conduit. Personally, I can’t think of a better way to end the show. It made for great drama, great action, and an explosive ending. The stakes were also escalated quite a bit because of death, suffering, and debilitating disease conditions - all that was on the line. I felt it enough that you can imagine the hardships that followed between the end of the series proper and the future setting of the final episode. Another thing I just want to tack on, this wasn’t the first opportunity they had to make it home, it was only the best one… and not just because of the Voyager crew, but because Janeway could land an opportunistic blow against the Borg… although, massively breaking one of the major laws of the Federation - but that’s been a big part of Star Trek since the original show.

As far as TOS is concerned. I tend to watch from start to City on the Edge of Forever. Not that I dislike all the rest of it, only that I find those first 28 episodes to be exceptionally good, and the show takes a notable quality dip afterward. It’s also a fantastic episode to end the show on given it’s, without need of argument, one of the best episodes in sci-fi television history.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Does anyone know if The Orville Season 2 is available on blu-ray anywhere? I can only find it on DVD. Why is technology moving backwards....

The expanse season 4 did finally come to blu-ray, was good, although not as 'big' as the earlier seasons. It all felt smaller, lower budget I guess. I wonder when season 5 will come to blu-ray.

I have given up on Star trek. It's gone from tv and isn't good enough to buy. I guess I can watch the originals again.
