Forums - Nintendo - 3DS has ended production

A great console with probably the deepest library for localized JRPGs since maybe the SNES. I you're a collector, now is the time to start buying these games. The 3DS was probably also the only hardware platform that Nintendo was able to save from being a flop post-launch. I was hoping that it could beat the GBA and PSP for lifetime sales but a lot of people didn't think that it would even be able to reach 70M.

3DS = GBC > GB > DS > GBA.

Thought I just throw it out there.

Wow, feels weird to hear that. I'm still playing mine, and will be for a while.

That checks out! And virtual boy aside, it seems fair to label it as Nintendo's least successful handheld. It was even outsold by the GBA, with its shortened lifespan...

As Rol says, Virtual Boy isn't really a handheld, so it's fair to call 3DS Nintendo's least successful handheld period.

It also finished behind PSP, the loser of last gen's portable war.

My favourite handheld system by far. I wish it could have joined the 100 million club.

One of the best RPG lineups IMO.

Goodnight sweet Prince....

Well, from this week's sales numbers, it looks like it didn't take long for news of the system's discontinuation to send gamers running out to gobble up what little supply remains.

I have been looking to buy a new system (any model) for at least half a year now, but haven't been able to find them anywhere. Does anyone know of anywhere with stock in the UK? I saw Argos had some a couple of months ago, but not at any of the locations near me.

to be fair, I think the production for the global supply chain has mostly ended last holiday- and its been mostly in prduction for japan, where funnily enough it has had a few weeks where it sold more then the ps4 the past few weeks.
