Forums - Sony Discussion - PS5: Full-Priced First-Party Games Will Seemingly Be $70

Fatal flaw by Sony OMG. They are subconsciously pushing more people towards Gamepass.

Nah. Gamepass cannot get me the games that I need.

I don't know anyone who would prefer to pay more rather than less, but If I'm ready to dole out 60€ for a game, an additional 10€ will not break the bank. Not a big deal.

Gamepass is a good deal, but considering that both Nintendo and Sony are killing it with the full-priced model, I doubt it will hurt them. The 70$ price hike was unfortunately expected. At least their singleplayer games are not full of microtransactions, like what we have seen with the NBA series.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

What I don't get is why would Gamepass be a SUBCONSCIOUS influence away from full purchase model and Sony?
If somebody makes the calculus that Gamepass benefits their gaming habit, that seems a conscious thought process.
What about existence of Gamepass subconsciously manipulates somebody's opinion who doesn't consciously think that?

Sometimes wildly extrapolating your shallow preferences into grandiose theories that don't even resemble what you think they are isn't a good idea.

Honestly, its not a big deal for me, but I rarely buy games at full price.

Yes, same. I rarely buy games right at launch so not a biggie. I might also add that here in NZ, games cost $120-130 at launch so we already pay through the teeth for games that most people in US or EU get for much cheaper. An increase in cost isnt going to put me off much.

I think it should really be based on a game by game basis, just because its next gen doesn't mean it should cost more... Demon Souls aklthough pretty, has fairly basic animations and is clearly not the most ambitious undertaking compared to the average AAA game.

Personally I wouldn't pay extra for any of the launch titles, games like GOW2/Horizon? Sure.

Yeah I saw the prices on ebgames and they were hitting in 90 and 100AUD. Im guessing other stores will also be lower but only like $10 just like current games. Feel sorry for PSfans who buys games at launch day/week/month and have to pay the yearly PSN. I suggest trading the PS4 and its games you dont play anymore to get a discount.

I for one am not a fan of this. As if they don't make enough money from DLC and microtransactions. Now they need to increase the starting price as well.

Sony barely have MTX in any of their games. How did you mix them up with Acti, EA, Ubi, m$, Epic, Capcom is baffling!

Sony makes extra money from PS Plus and PS Now. Plus overpriced digital games (when not discounted). Plus some DLCs here and there and although negligible compared to other companies, they have been playing around with microtransactions for a while.

They may have not increased the actual price of their videogames until now, but they definetely have introuced new ways to get more money from their fans.

Saying that videogames need to be more expensive because their costs have increased and because the base price hasn't changed in over a decaded is a very questionable statement.
