Here is a side question for everyone.

Was Goldeneye the game good because of the movie, or was the movie better because of the game?

How do you think the game would have performed if the movie did not exist and vise versa?

This one is too easy. I don't think the game did anything for the movie (it came out much later than the release of the movie), so yes, the game got better because of the movie/James Bond theme.

Haha, for me it was actually the film was better because of the game.

When the film came out, I was impressed with Sean Bean, but Brosnan was more like... "Why is the pompous jackass from Mrs. Doubtfire playing Bond?" and wrote him off as a cheap Dalton replacement. I mean, I didn't think GE007 was a terrible film, just not what I was expecting for the Bond comeback, and still preferred License to Kill and Living Daylights.

But yeah, I became a MUCH bigger GE film fan after the game. For a bit it became my favourite Bond film.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Tooie I feel would be a close contender with Kazooie for the top spot if only it ran more smoothly; playing it today, as amazing as its charm, variety, and world design are, the framerate kinda gives me a headache.

Goldeneye 007 for me,no other shooter will ever come close for me.

Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie and Diddy Kong Racing!

Yep that is how I felt when I walked out of Goldeneye.  Then the game kind of hyped it up for me and when I saw the movie a second time I enjoyed it more lol.

When i read the title i thought "oh, conker and its not close" completely forgetting about goldeneye. Ill still give it to conker.itts one of the funniest games of all time had fun gameplay and, although i played 007 multiplayer more and w just 2 ppl, the 4 player teddies vs squirrel game was extremely fun. One of the most memorable games ive ever played.

Ive never been into the bond films and this game got me to see the movie. I ended up enjoying it, but idve never seen the movie if not for the game. The game, multiplayer and unlocking cheats specifically, was really addicitive. Way superior, imo, to todays achievement system. U got something tangible in game instead of a "hey! Look what u did! Good job buddie!"

This is so tough. So. Many. Good. Games! Loved Banjo. Loved Conker even more. And those are not even my favorites. Blast Corps, maybe? No, I shall manage to narrow it down to 2, and those are GoldenEye and Diddy Kong. I played the heck out of both and now I find it so hard to decide, but I'll end up voting Goldeneye for general impact on gaming as a whole (even if for the single player campaign I consider Turok a superior game - not by far, but superior).

GoldenEye for sure.
It was THE multiplayer game of that gen. Few games have had such a craze associated with them. If you were a gamer and you weren't playing GoldenEye like there was something wrong with you haha. I remember there was even an article in our school newspaper about the game. GoldenEye was the original video game craze, and for good reason.

Perfect Dark had like more options and stuff, and it was cool it had AI bots for deathmatch, but just wasn't as good a game. Still fantastic though.

Banjo Kazooie was amazing and behind Mario 64 was the premier platformer that gen. Never played Banjo Tooie.

Diddy Kong Racing was a fun different take from the Mario Kart formula. I played it years later and it did not age as well as MK64, but at the time it was great.

Jet Force Gemini was a lot of fun but then after you beat the boss the first time it forced you to have to try to rescue every single one of the little ewok-type creatures, if memory serves, and that was just tedious as hell and not worth it. But up until then it was a great game, just bad gameplay decision by the creators kind ruined the whole experience.

KI Gold was a great upgrade from the original Killer Instinct. A very solid fighting game. The ultimate combo fighter.

Blast Corps was a weird concept but a great game. I remember the day I beat the game and then you go to the moon and all the planets so there's a bunch more levels. One of the coolest post-game contents I've ever seen and at that time post-game wasn't even a thing yet so it blew my mind!

I had Conker but never played much into it so can't make a call on it.

DK64 sucked and was easily the biggest disappointment of any N64 first party game. It was just boring. Glad Nintendo realized after the failure that was DK64 that they should stick to DKC 2D games in the future. DK64 was probably the only super hyped up AAA Nintendo game to just be awful. I remember it was marketed as like bigger and better than Mario 64 in every way, and then it was just a dud of a game.

Nice post overall, but I wanted to second your take on DK64. Easily their worst effort in the console. And I had that game and played it a lot. So very repetitive and unimaginative except for the fantastic opening.
