Forums - Website Topics - A Message To Our Xbox Community...

I applaud this and 💯 agree that every fanbase deserves a safe/respectable place where they can discuss and express their passion in any hobby/brand they love without being attacked!

Lets all be unified and bigger than engaging in petty useless wars and level up people.

I welcome this. Thank you CGI and team, hopefully, this will make a difference.

I know I may not be as active as others, but there is one thing that you may want to look at: do not let people who clearly want to downplay or make sure they have the first word create threads about Xbox news.

You can see this happening a lot and it always becomes a shit show and we have to rely on the Xbox empire thread to talk about whatever topic their introduced (but with their own wordings to make sure it starts just bad). Please be also mindful of that, if someone who clearly does not like Xbox is creating a thread about it (while pretending this is something they are interested in), this is usually not ending well and the purpose of it is clear from the start.

I know this is tricky, but really, some of it is pretty obvious from the start.

I think one of the things which usually create a lot of tension and bad blood is click bait articles being used to create threads / topics. Similar to Gaf and Era I think it would be good if thread topics can be vetted based on sources of the article / info linked.

Once vetted, if more questions need to be asked to the OP they can or the new thread can be denied and a reason given to the OP.

The best way to create a safe space is vetting the topics as they often encourage toxic behaviours.

Sometimes rewording /phrasing can go a long way and mods can help do this before publishing a new topic.

Well, my point is actually pretty much aligned to this.
Fei-Hun g may be referring to news tho (which imo should not be a problem) but I'm talking about user threads here. Again, those are really obvious on the forums.

Any new topic I believe. Its possible to use news or just off your own back create a click bait thread.

Us gamers are passionate creatures and sometimes this passion takes over. Vetting a new topic can help ensure there is a balanced and well thought out start to a topic. Mods could even add rules to the topic if they believe it may go wrong as a sub section below the topic.

but I do notice there is a passion against Xbox on this site.

It's not specific to this website tho. I am in several forums all accross the globe, and there is always the same issue: moderators asking people to stop bashing/making fun of Xbox fans, one of my favourite forums has its Xbox section locked since yesterday to "clean up" an ban users who are not really fans of the brand.

I think the issue is more widely spread that we can imagine.

I think it's mainly a matter of XBox being the least popular of the three consoles (objectively in terms of sales). That leads to more users for the other platforms. That means they can attack without much fear of reprisal, and will generally be supported, whereas if you insult Sony of Nintendo, you're more likely to get shot down. There's also the factor that Sony and Nintendo are older companies in terms of gaming. A lot more people grew up with Nintendo or Sony than Microsoft, and the passions you form in childhood tend to be stronger. Plus, Microsoft is the richest and most powerful of the three companies, and to some people that is a negative.

Thank you.
For whatever reason, I've grown to love the Xbox brand and it kinda sucks having the console constantly being attacked. I mean constructive criticism is a good thing but when you have those that refuse to see any good, it's a little disheartening.

I often find myself attacking Sony and n Nintendo (two brands I absolutely love) in retaliation. We're all just gamers and the hobby should be fun. Thanks for doing what you can to keep it that way.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend and Minecraft on Switch makes them one of Nintendo's best 3rd party devs so they're OK by me either way.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Yeah the amount of shit the X box community got was a bit out of balance , this site needs to keep being inviting for all fans so this is surely a good thing.

attack the perpetrator not the brand should be thy motto, these words of wisdom spring forth from the rosy red lips of your probation officer.

I've thought about this and I'm sure others have been in the same boat.

Yeah i think those two communities tend to be far more aggressive and defensive towards those that have criticism.(from my own experience in this place ofcourse)
