Supposedly this is a free update on PS4, for Tetris effect.
Though it may first come early summer 2021.
When is it releaseing for Xbox series X?

PS5's look so much better to me. Yeah, Xbox revealed more but we know next to nothing about most of the games. That presentation was pretty devoid of details, so I really can't speak much on behalf of most of the XBX's games. Halo is really the only one we know much about when it comes to how it plays and...aside from it supposedly being open-world and having a hookshot, I am not so convinced it's special.
With PS5, though, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart alone is a better show of what the console is capable of, is likely to be more outright FUN, has a better art direction, and has cute female lombaxes in it, which is enough to make it better than everything Xbox has shown off so far. Plus, Demon's Souls is a fantastic remake of the one game in the Souls franchise I haven't gotten 100% in yet so that's something I'm eagerly looking forward to (Dark Souls, Dark Souls III, Bloodborne, and Sekiro are all outstandingly great games that have a spot on my all-time faves list.) Horizon The Forbidden West looks outstanding and is following up from probably the best new IP of the last generation aside from Bloodborne, and Spider-Man Miles Morales is going to be an amazing side-game to the outstanding spider-Man from 2018. Those four alone are enough to make me NEED the console, but we also have so many more games that interest me.
However, much like the Xbox list, the rest of the games on the console - at least the ones that are new IPs - don't really have enough information to go by. something like Kena looks amazing but I don't know enough about it to be truly psyched, much the same way Everwild is. Something like Returnal looks interesting but we only know the most basic information about the game to say if it's going to be good.
on Xbox's side, the only games I feel we know enough about are Hellblade II (only becuase it's a sequel to a wonderful game from this gen) and Psychonauts 2 (which again is a sequel.) Also, Gran Turismo and Forza cancel each other out since they're both non-entities to me. I don't care for racing games.
But yeah, a message to Sony and Microsoft both: IF you're showing off a new IP, a cinematic trailer tells us nothing other than the title and the fact that it exists.

Marketing 'lies'. It's not outright false, just bent in their favor. Tetris is the same game with MP tacked on it seems. Years ago when that TR game out people thought it was exclusive but something about the wording was fishy and sure enough it eventually came out on PS. |
Well either way they can have the game forever i don't think anyone would lose sleep over it lol.
I'm just baffled that the word exclusive has lost its real meaning now. We just label it on anything these days.

Therefore, and just by default, the PS5 wins for me. If that sounds silly, which it probably does, then just consider the types of games I like and you'll see that, even if we go just by these lists, there's more games on the PS5 list that appeal to me. Ratchet, Spiderman, Demon's Souls, Horizon and Kena all scream "Games I MUST play", whereas everything else are games I'll probably play, or I'd like to play but won't lose sleep if I don't. |
Exactly the same for me. I'm still holding out on Kena since I'm not convinced we have enough information about it, but like Everwild I absolutely love the shit out of the art direction.
**Edit** I take that back. I just watched the Kena trailer again and there is a decent amount of gameplay in there. Yep, my body is ready and I must add it to my list of 'holy shit I NEED this game'

There was a lot of confusion with some games and according to some websites the game is exclusive, and according to others it is temporary or not at all.
I wanted to change a few things in the first post, but I don't know why there no edit option.
About Tetris Effect: Connected:

"Arriving this holiday season in time for the Xbox Series X"
"In summer 2021, Enhance says Tetris Effect: Connected will arrive as a free update to the existing PS4, Epic Game Store, and Oculus Quest versions. "

I got those vibes from significantly more games in the Series X line-up that's been announced than I have from the PlayStation 5 line-up we know of so far. I've already listed the games that are currently of the most interest to me for both platforms. (Speaking of which, Everwild appears to be an interest that you and I share!) |
EverWild has been a good interest of mine, iv been keeping a close eye on that game, i just wish Xbox would stop playing guessing games with everyone on what the game will play like.. If its what i expect it to be than awesome however all they have shown so far is the in-game movies and that doesn't tell me much, it does look beautiful and the story seems quite unique too. I just want to know how it plays. Is it a Zelda styled adventure game? is it an open world sandbox game? is it a flight simulator game? I just wish they showed more than a movie trailer.. well anyway hoping they showcase more next time.
Side note, i am not a fan of GTA games, never got into them, i use to like COD before Ghost, Post Ghost i cbf with the series anymore. Its all the same these days, i have been CoD out for quite some time now. I liked Fable, i never found the time to get into them as much as other games however i will be keeping an eye on the new one as well, i just need to see more than just a title to get me excited.

aahh this holiday.
So a potentially 5-6 months of a updated tetris effect.

You know, part of me suspected that might just be the case. I mean I've read about stuff like that happening in gaming (women in gaming feeling unsafe being out as women), but honestly haven't been connected enough to the online gaming community to really know first-hand. I still pretty exclusively play offline, and mostly single-player titles at that. Hearing lots of stuff about sexual harassment is, in fact, one part of the reason why I don't get more involved in like online gaming, in addition to just personal aesthetic preferences. It's a combination of those things for me. Also part of the reason why, in stark contrast to offline where I'm not even out, I make it clear what my sexual orientation is in heavily male online spaces like this. Not only is it nice to be able to be out reasonably safely somewhere, but it also reduces sexual harassment to let people know what my boundaries are clearly. It's useful that way too in settings like this, I find. I also have the benefit of assumption going for me, as I find that VGC users instinctively assume I'm male until I formally tell them otherwise. Anyway, yeah, I do see stats sometimes that suggest women today compose a significant minority of the gaming population (for example here's the official Entertainment Software Association data on American gamers over the last 15 years, which suggests about 40% are female), but those stats are based on a more generous definition of the term "gamer" than most people, including most women who game, would embrace, and to which end honestly the Quantic Foundry survey data, which suggests that about 20% of gamers are female, seems more believable to me. That seems more like the world I actually live in. |
Back in my mmo days when i did lead groups of people and planned events for them we had like 30 percent females with us and it was interesting to overlook the interaction between male and female gamers and ofcourse most of the complaints were shown to me to be able to solve the problems.
There were certainly some dudes being obsessed by female players and those that went overboard got punished for it or just thrown out of the group, also some of them formed an irl relationship and that was ofcourse a more positive effect:p
There were dudes that obsessed but not in an aggressive way but being overly nice and some of them were taken advantage of by being caught in a manipulative web.(sending pictures to the guy, promising to meet him,and he blindly did everything for her and bought her stuff while she actually disliked him)So i asked her to stop abusing the guy and she did not so i banned her and sadly that guy followed her not listening to me.(she told me about it because we talked a lot and had the crazy thought i would support her with that)
Outside of all of that most females and males got along like normal people do,males mostly being more competive and the females more chill and more focussed on being social with some exceptions and it was handy to have both sexes represented in the higher up rankings that had a seperate chat to discus about needed changes to the ''group''.

As someone who doesn't know the meaning of brand loyalty, but rather plays on my own terms and not those of a particular institution, I've gotta disagree with the suggestion here that only Nintendo fans who are so dogged that they'd never buy anything other than Nintendo systems are qualified to evaluate whether the PlayStation 5 or Series X has more merit with credulity. I mean in proclaiming my intention to prioritize the Series X this fall both here and elsewhere of late, clearly I haven't displayed much loyalty to the PlayStation brand here despite my clear preference for it overall here in the current console generation. That's because I have a brain and know what I like. Just because I love lots of games published by Sony over the last decade -- games like Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, The Last of Us, The Last of Us Part II, Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, The Last Guardian, this gen's God of War, Death Stranding, and I guess Ghost of Tsushima on balance -- doesn't mean I seriously want to play the next Ratchet and Clank or superhero game or Gran Turismo or even Horizon Forbidden West over say Everwild, Psychonauts 2, The Medium, Call of the Sea, or As Dusk Falls, for example (not counting smaller games), just for the sake of brand loyalty. I'm loyal to myself first. I can evaluate fairly based on my own personal metrics. At present it looks like the Series X will have more games that are, well, me. I think that's a fair enough way to evaluate.
Haha, I understand, dude! It takes all kinds! Even me.
LOL!! |
True! It was so long ago, I had to look it up, but the first game I owned with a female "lead character", and I use the term loosely, was Cabbage Patch Kids on the ColecoVision which I got in 1983. After that, outside of 16-bit (and beyond) JRPG's and fighting games, which both deserve a nod, the next game with a female lead I played was Tomb Raider on the PS1 in 1996. Quite a gap.
- "If you have the heart of a true winner, you can always get more pissed off than some other asshole."
I feel like Microsoft can really hold itself against Sony so far, which is one of the reasons I'm leaning towards a Series X right now. As for the games being only console exclusive, I don't care. I only play on consoles so to me it's about which games I can only get on one console or the other. Also, this is part of Microsoft's strategy with Gamepass. They want people to be able to access their library from PC or Series X. I like that approach. Sony and Microsoft are not companies with arcade roots like Nintendo and Sega. Their consoles are rather more accessible gaming PCs - so why not embrace that like Microsoft does?
