Very impressive sales, despite my very mixed feelings on the game, it's good that people are getting enjoyment from it.

Congrats to Sony and ND for this. Part II Is a fantastic and atmospheric experience for all survival horror fans, the sucess is fully deserved.

Well, it if sold 4 million copies in three days, it is safe to assume total sales are now beyond 6 mi.

Was Spiderman the second fastest?

It'd be interesting to see a comparison of how they're selling in the first few weeks.

Yes, Spiderman sold 3.3M in the first 3 days.

Congrats to TLOUII/ND/SIE!

Monster numbers and the strong growth for Sony 1P continues. Here's to another gen!  Think SM2 will top this eventually.

Current Gen Exclusive launches (typically 3-day sell-through).

NSW SwSh >6.0M

NSW SSBU >5.0M

PS4 TLOU2 >4.0M

PS4 SM >3.3M

PS4 GoW >3.1M

NSW LGPE >3.0M

PS4 UC4 >2.7M

NSW SMO >2.0M

PS4 FF7R: 3.5M <Shipped, not sold.

ACNH unknown but presumably higher than 7M.  Same with Sun/Moon.

I'm doing digging on others for PS4 and Halo.  Doubt any other Switch titles make it on here - BOTW was day 1 with NSW hardware so there's no way it could have moved >1M over the weekend.

Is there no data on ACNH first 3 days?

AC was a sleeper hit, constant seller rather than a bolter

Think about the factors that went up against this game's absolute success. It was leaked months ago. The pandemic is still very much a crisis in major markets like the US. People have been constantly attacking this game since April. You could even argue that the PS5 reveal might've taken some buyers away because they would rather want to play the game on the PS5.
One of the most impressive launches of all time, all things considering.

Nope.

What we do know is the following.

WW 12-day Shipped + Digital = 11,770K as of 3/31

JP 12-day Shipped + Digital = 3,840K as of 3/31

JP 3-day Physical Sell-Through = 1,880K as of 3/22

JP 10-day Physical Sell-Through = 2,608K as of 3/29

JP 17-day Physical Sell-Through = 3,031K as of 4/5

Given high sell-through %, Digital number for JP through 3/31 was estimated at 800K (so ~150-200K physical inventory available for week ending April 5).

That gives a JP digital share at around 22-24%.

Using 23% as our number, that gives 3-day sell through for JP would be est 2,440K.  Using the same ratio as 3,800/11,770 for the 3/31 number, we'd get 7,550K for first three-day sell-through.  So ~5.1M NA/EU/ROTW and ~2.4M JP.

FYI Digital Share = 50% for US/EUR/JP (CA/MX/LA/Asia/MEAA/Oceania unknown)

US/EUR/JP 5.5 week sell-through = 13,410K as of 4/25 (CA/MX/LA/Asia/MEAA/Oceania unknown)

Since Japan is known to be 22-24%, that would suggest that the EUR/US digital share is in the realm of 60%.

It goes to show how we forum dwellers live in a bubble. All the drama around the leaks and crunch time and the "total betrayal of the first game" never reached most of the 4+ million people who bought the game.
