Right, you make a generalized drive-by post, get asked for names and then talk about getting harassed.

I seem to have struck a nerve.

So, you know what they say.

If the hat fits...

its a lot easier than a counter argument.

Clear answer: I owe you nothing, and won’t give you the pleasure of falling for your little game. Go harass someone else.

Right, you make a generalized drive-by post, get asked for names and then talk about getting harassed.

This isn't a particularly productive line of conversation and isn't on topic either.

Get over yourselves and enjoy what you enjoy, getting upset with others respectful opinions and lumping them together with the most extreme while ignoring valid complains or positives about the game is a bit stubborn.
Meanwhile i do think many are unneedingly lumping together diversity and character and see forced diversity while without the diversity the characters would still be badly written, those that mention it a lot probably almost always know that diversity is not a problem but be aware about what terms you use when those same terms are what makes others assume the worst of you and take things out of context and when such a habit becomes a constructive conversation stopper it also becomes destructive for a thread like this.

I've just finished the game, and I don't wanna straw-men people.

Why is there such political anger and things about this game? Is it really just the fact that Ellie is a Lesbian? We've known that for 6 years.
Or did people really not like Joel dying?
Or is it something else? I'm very curious.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Cant say for sure, but I think many people need a "hero" character. Someone to root for. This game doesnt really go for that.

You only get the 'hero' thing for the first half of the game but I see. If that's what people wanted and they couldn't decide or wanted it to be clear then that's fair criticism.

I really didn't want to play as the 'antagonist' and wondered and hoped it wouldn't be reliving the entire 3 days from her perspective, but as it went on I had a good time with her and my searing hatred for the character (good hatred) went down some.

Yeah, it was a bit uncomfortable at first, but I learned to like Abby. I understand why people dont like her. Ellie was trained by a great guy while Abby was trained by a ruthless dictator pretty much.

I don't remember that game having been marketed with heterosexual relationships as a selling point and trailers focusing on them making out.

As an aside, Elena is actually a good example of how to write strong female characters without making it political and stupid. Just write a good character.

The game was not marketed with homosexual relationships as a selling point either. But I understand you think a lesbian character isn’t a good character. You obviously take issues with homosexual representation in gaming media. That tells a lot.

And while I’m here let’s remind people like you that they had no issues with this:

https://youtu.be/MIuccdsDGEM

Where did I say a lesbian character isn't a good character? Which lesbian character are you talking about? That's the point, a character is not automatically good because she is a lesbian.

Okay and someone made a compilation clip after UC4 released about all of Nate and Elena's kissing scenes. What's that supposed to mean? That people make compilations?

The first TLOU was dark as well, but here was an element of hope and innocence with Joel and Ellie navigating the world and their respective histories together. The sequel takes that whole dynamic away right at the beginning and what's left is just misery and torture porn with no hope of anything better or redemption of any kind. I like dark, that's not the problem but there's so many ways they could have gone with the story, it could have been so much more meaningful and it's actually hard to come up with something worse than what they did.

Yeah, well they did that in the first TLOU. They tried something different with TLOU2. I personally like that. I didnt really want a sequel to TLOU because I thought the ending was great. So I assumed TLOU2 would just continue the same way. It didnt and I now feel like theres a reason for the sequel.

Also the scenario I had in mind while playing would be worse than what they did. lol

Spoiler!
I was scared that Ellie and Abby would hook up for some reason

Regarding your spoiler, that would actually have been very interesting. Think of the possibilities and complexities that could have led to, instead this lazy and simplistic revenge plot.

It's overwhelmingly about the narrative. Even if every character in the game were just plain ol' heterosexuals and there were no political agendas whatsoever to be found, the way the beloved characters are treated is just massively disappointing and off-putting, especially after seven years of waiting. The whole dynamic that made the first game so well liked is completely obliterated in the sequel. It's weird, like either Druckmann doesn't understand what made the first game tick, or that he somehow became so overwhelmed by having to improve upon the former perfection that he imploded and found no other recourse than to deconstruct the whole thing. Like he knew he couldn't top what he had done before, so he decided to piss in the pool before the fans got to it first.

Maybe the Last of Us is one of those things that should have been a one-off, no sequels needed.

No it really isn`t. It have more negative reviews, on 0, than several games have as total and most of those even before the game could be played for more than couple minutes, that contrast with the scores on PSN where people had to play the game.

So what? The leaks came out and it was clear to see what happens in the game storywise and fans hated it. No amount on context would ever change that. Unless it all turned out to be dream sequence, but it wasn't now, was it?

I have been talking to several people about it and while I agree we should not have a sequel, it's actually a very good setting to have a prequel, since 20 years have passed in that world. Tess is such an amazing character and we can sense in the first game they have been through a lot to survive and probably had a relationship at some point. Would be interesting to see how was that world only 2-5 years after the breakdown for example.

ANyway.. what's done is done.

Yes, a prequel would have been very nice. I would have loved to learn more about Tess and what she and Joel had been up to in the years right after the disaster happened. Apparently the TV show will take place in that period, although who knows if Tess will be in it. And after all that has happened and what has been said about that series, I don't have high hopes for that either. Smells like woke to me.
