Forums - Sales Discussion - The 8th Gen 1st party reception and sales battle

Ni OH Ni OH 2 Personal and Ni No Kuni aren't 1st Party Sony games

As Crackdown 3, Mario + Rabbid and some others. It was considered first party due to their permanent exclusivity.

Also Ratchet and Clank is a Remake of a game from the same Gen as the original Shadow of the Colossus. Also missing Gravity Rush 2 and MLB the Show games.

Reboot not remake

Well I could remove that part of the text, but Since it wouldn't be possible to include reviews, GOTY awards and sales for titles not released that point is of little relevance.

It seems a bit cherrypicky to compare sales/reception of 1st parties but do it in a way that skips BoTW and Mario Kart.

It doesn't bother me though. Switch being 8th gen means Sony won't have won a console race for 20-25 years.

It skipped TLOU Remastered as well.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

No one considers Ni Oh, Ni Oh 2, Ni No Kuni 2, or Persona 5 first party titles under any definition. They are 3rd party exclusives, which is still a thing. Your rules are arbitrary and illogical. Throw this whole thread away.

It would be to unfavorable to use WiiU for Nintendo instead of Switch, it had less games, less sales and lower critical reception.

It doesn't matter if it's unfavorable when it is the correct thing to do. Nintendo lost in a big way in the home console market of the eighth generation. If someone made a breakdown of the handheld market of the eighth generation, it would be equally silly to leave out the Vita for the reason that it looks unfavorable for Sony.

Then we either would have 2 systems from Nintendo or we would end on Switch being 8th gen or 9th which have 0 agreement.

Cool idea. Ruined by silly qualifications and exclusions.

Ok so according to some nonsense rules, one of the greatest games of the generation, namely BOTW, and as a Nintendo 1st party game, is excluded.

That thread has thus no point

It would be more interesting and better data to just compare first party titles. Who cares if they are exclusive, remakes, or cross gen.

Sure can be made.

That Sony and Nintendo list is looking good

Also, Cadence of hyrule, fire emblem warriors and 3 houses are not 1st party

So what is your definition of winning a console race? Hardware sales? Software sales? Revenue? Net income?
