Forums - Gaming - Series milking old games and dependant on nostalgia way too much ?

Sorry, but Square-Enix milking old Final Fantasies with all these remakes and remasters takes the crown. FF7 original on PS4 is one of my most played games on the console and so FF8 Remastered. I had played the originals, but they really bite me to buy them when they release a new version. Even Zodiac Age on PS4 is amazing. Personally, i feel like latest entries like 13 and 15 are not that remembered and loved by the fans, i mean i dont expect anyone asking a FF13 remake for PS5,  Square is milking everything from the past and they are not hesitant on announcing FF 16.  We all remember back in 00s, the next FF entry was announced before the present was even released. When FF 15 dropped in 2016, they went totally mute on  FF16.

What other games series are dependant on nostalgia ?

Pokémon as evidenced by the Internet reaction when people learned that some Pokémons were cut from Sword/Shield.

Signature goes here!

Man I used to love twisted metal 1 and 2 on PS1 but when I went back to play recently I wondered how the hell I was so good at a game with such shit controls. Played the one of PS3 and that at least was playable for me. The car handling is weird on early ones where the cars practically turns on a dime. I suppose after some time I could get used to it again but I'd rather just play Wreckfest or something. Now demolition derby semi held up decently for me.

Can just ignore my post just wanted to bitch about handling in first games in series.  I was just wanting to complain about nostalgia gone bad.

I see nostalgia as an added value, not as a problem that needs to be fixed. I understand at times people see remake/remasters as something that -presumably- puts a halt on developing new games, and its a quick and easy cash grab for the companies, but I dont care much for that conversation since we are getting good products. Minus a few exceptions I've had the displeasure to play, those remasters/remakes usually end up pretty well in terms of quality. This gen we got FFXII zodiac age, FF7R, RE 1 and 2, XenoChronicels, Tales of Vesperia DE, Trials of Mana to name a few and all of them have been either good or fantastic.

Fuuuuuuuck! I have similar thread in mind. Well..._wait a few more days

That's the foundation of Nintendo.

So your problem with FF is that they remastered the games or put ports to newer system?
Because the only remake so far is for FFVII and would grant you a lot of us would want they to remake FFIX and some others.
If you want to talk about milking that title is for Nintendo and the stable of Mario games. Most of them wouldn't have anything to do with Mario World but using the mascot they can get additional sales and so they do it.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Several Final Fantasy games were remade for the DS and Final Fantasy I and II were remade for the PSP.

Let's make it shorter: Tell me a good, totally new game that doesn't delve on and into nostalgia at some point or in some form?
