Well Blaze is a pretty competent character in the Sonic Rush games, a queen from another world that gets the job done.

"Shes a badass that just happends to be a woman, instead of the otherway around."

How can you tell that apart?

comes down to how you judge the character design, and beliveability of background story, and how the character acts I guess.

Sometimes its clear, they had the character was designed, they went, we want her to be sexy.... and a badass.
Like its some checkbox situation, where they just check down a list and then fill in the character from that.

Then you have a character thats wearing like a bikini in a middleage set war era, where everyone else is wearing plate mail armors ect.
Theres no justification for her being powerfull or acting like a badass ect.

I prefer them to put some thought into the character design and story/backgrounds.

No its simple you dont like the women from not sony games

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

"Metroid (tbh you can barely tell its a woman, and could just as easily have been a male character)."

*literally same post*:

"I think Ellie from Last of Us, is looking pretty badass.
Shes a badass that just happends to be a woman, instead of the otherway around.
Which seems to be a fault alot of female character designs have."

I have to assume it's a deliberate troll job. No real human can be that lacking in self-awareness.

This is a brilliant idea. I'd love to see this as an article on the main page!
And recently I read that Koei was founded by a married couple and Keiko Erikawa still runs the company with her husband now that the company is Koei Tecmo. She also created the first all female writing team in games as far as I can tell (maybe just the first in Japan). She did this purely with the aim to change the industry and this led to their range of Otome, adventure, dating sim & visual novel games.

That's one I didn't know, I've become very interested in the people behind the games I find it fascinating when I find some interview with the developers. Especially when I've really enjoyed the games they work on.

- Samus Aran
- Bayonetta
- Jade from Dragon Quest 11
- Telma from Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Impa from the Zelda series
- Lara Croft
- Clementine from The Walking Dead
- Ivy from Soul Calibur
- Chun-Li from Street Fighter

Why is this even a topic? Every gamer knows its Lara croft, no questions or doubts, but the original Lara not the new one.

There will never be another to match her.

Some people saying Samus? lol It could just have been a male, you couldn't even tell, or Ellie from last of us? C'mon guys seriously? She's nowhere close to being badass as 90's para croft. She's mostly a scared kid, para croft was confident, had a cool personality, and much better one liners.

Alex Roivas (Eternal Darkness)

Senua from Hellblade.

She's a badass in that she faces incredible hardship, trauma, and adversity, yet pushes through the hurt and fights her inner demons with every fiber of her being. I don't think I've ever encountered another video game character who felt as much like a real person; an imperfect, damaged, truly courageous person.

Lara Croft
Jill Valentine

In that order, after that others.

Of course women can kick as much as as men, they’re people. I’m not celebrating half the population because of their genitals— I don’t care about that; but the quality of ones work. If they happen to be a female great. I’m not going to dilute/celebrate their work because of their
gender... it’s gonna be because it’s good work.

Tired of seeing all the crap today, so sorry. I like Lara Croft, Samus and Senua. Those are the three that come to mind.
