1 new game, that has a niche market space (big in japan) and 2 ports? common.
Both Playstation and Xbox will dwarf that this year... in terms of exclusives.
What makes you think 2020 is a "big" year for switch exlusives then?
ei. your own words back at you, "why are you pretending that it is!?"
It's hard to beat BOTW, MK8D, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 and Mario Odyssey. Best launch year ever and best Switch year so far. So 2017 without a doubt.
2018 had only Smash and 2019 had Yoshi, Mario Maker, Luigi and Pokemon. 2019 wasn't bad. It had also many good 3rd party games. But no.
Zelda, Mario + Splatoon within 9 months should make every Switch owner perfectly happy.
For what shortcomings there still were, it's going to be very difficult to top Nintendo Switch's 2017. Whether you count that as the 2017 calendar year (like I do) or until March 3, 2018, it's tough to top. So many quality titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Stardew Valley, Super Mario Odyssey, Skyrim, Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Oh, and online we didn't have to pay for.
I don't think 2020 can top 2017. Animal Crossing: New Horizons will likely be amazing, but that's all I'm interested in. We still don't know if the next Zelda will be out this year. We're pretty in the dark about first and third-party Switch games this year, so I hope we get a Nintendo Direct this month.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 144 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million)
PS5: 105 million Xbox Series S/X: 60 million
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

I will ignore your obvious intentions and ask again:
Why do you pretend that is all the switch has for 2020?
curl-6 said: For me, it will be a very tall order for any year to top 2017; the one-two punch of BOTW and Mario Odyssey alone, one of the best games ever made and one of the top ten of the decade, is colossal on its own, but add in Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, and Doom 2016, and it's truly fearsome. 2019 may have had more good games in total but for me it didn't offer any in the same godly league as BOTW or Odyssey. |
breath of the wild is also on wiiU, was nothing new to the switch, splatoon 2 is mostly for online, I hated it, one of the worse games I played in the last 30 years, controls were also weird compared to most first person shooters. Single player campaign was too short and just bad.
Doom looks and plays much better on PC, xbox X and PS4 pro, by far, and its also way cheaper on those consoles, like 6 times cheaper.
Mario was OK, but not as good as many other 3d marios, it was far too easy, you couldn't even lose a life, and far too many collectibles. Mario 64 and sunshine and 3D world were better for me.
Xenoblade 2 was fantastic, one of the best rpgs of the last 10 years. All in all 2017 was disappointing for me on the switch compared to when I bought my N64, gamecube and wiiU.

BOTW was still a new game on Switch; it launched on Switch and Wii U on the exact same day and date, so it was new on both.
And as someone who isn't into online play I really enjoyed Splatoon 2 as a single player game and loved its motion controls.
As for Doom, I don't own a PS4, Xbox One, or gaming PC, plus, once again, I love motion aiming, so for me it was awesome on Switch.
Guess we just have very different tastes, as I considered Odyssey way better than 3D World or Sunshine due to its more interesting worlds and the variety that the Capture ability brought to the gameplay.
Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023. (And over 130 million lifetime)

Even if Metroid Prime 4 + BoTW 2 also launched in 2020, it still wouldnt beat 2017 lineup. |
Those aren’t the only two games in development. Nintendo most often announces games with less than 12 months to release. The only exceptions that come to mind are Breath of the Wild, Breath of the Wild 2, Yoshi’s Crafted World, and Metroid Prime 4; the latter two had delays and looked like they were intended for faster release dates.
But Nintendo has substantial dev resources, and they haven’t announced what the majority of them are doing for the next 2 years.

OK, I see your agenda. That’s why you’re being obtuse.

Thats like saying I see your agenda too Jumpin.
The defense force that twists words, and ignores context.
Did you also call out the obvious nintendo agenda people?
Im putting things into context, with my comment.
People were saying nintendo 2020 would possibly be its best year.
That its best year in terms of exclusives was still ahead of it.
I called that BS out, saying thats not gonna happend. 2017 isn't going to be beat.
And pointing out the competition has a bigger 2020.
Then you jump in (ironically your name) and go on the defense force and take things out of context, to call out agendas.
Nice.
