So NY is turning the state dorms into hospitals. The Governor tweeted about it earlier and my girlfriend that goes to a state school was told that they have to pack up and leave by months end.

737 new US cases yesterday. More cases than the previous day. Tomorrow is when test kits should start to ramp up so it will be interesting.
Also Puerto Rico is on lockdown.
I can't say it any nicer, but the Trump administration is a piece of shit.
They are willing to buy CureVac, a German company, which is working on a vaccines. The Trump administration wants the vaccine exclusive for the US.
CureVac will share the vaccine with the world once it's ready.

Those aren't contained. The virus is still spreading. They've just mitigated it, the same as everyone else. |

another 32 new cases of it in denmark..... its now over 890.
It must be said, we re very good at testing, so that could be part of it (why the nrs are high).
That said, spread seems to be slowing down the rate it spreads at.

Why not try to make a quick buck, on the death and suffering and fear of such, others have? *sarcasm*
This is the same thing with the quick testing methode the germans made, for CoVid-19.
Amercan didnt want to use it, because they cant profit off of it, so they attempted to make their own, and ran into issues with mass production and reliability. This caused delays to testing, and possibly ment higher spreads of it.

Anyone who thinks Trump cares about anyone but himself and his rich friends at this point is deluding himself.

What? 10% of the worlds population is near 800 million people. 1% is 80 million people. Is it infects at the WHOs estimate it's at least 45 million people you are just going to through to the wind and fill mass graves with... what? So we can go on wth daily life and set all our integrity and moral good aside, this will and should never happen. What would be the point if you're going to let your neighbour or grand parents or the pregnant women with a child on the way be put in mortal danger? Can you really live with that so we don't experience a bit of hardship for a time? What are you suggesting exactly because I don't want to put words in your mouth, lay out your view of how this should be handled with a 1% mortality rate and at least 50% infected globally, being conservative. Please. |
We, yes including you, live every single day ignoring the suffering in the world. It's human nature because it would be impossible otherwise to live our lives. So don't try to be too uppity about it.
Every single year over 1% of the world population dies, so I'm gonna suggest that we handle it exactly as we handle it every single year. Your big and scary numbers aren't really that big considering that the millions of dead and sick people are being handled by millions of different communities. And then you might say that those dead and sick people are additional to the already dead and sick people and then I'm gonna say that there is a gigantic cross section between the people who died from corona this year and the people who were gonna die from anything else this year. It's also slightly counterbalanced by all the accidents and sickness that are not gonna happen due to people being more careful and hygienic and living a bit healthier.
Nothing about the reaction to this virus is in any way proportional to what it is and to how we handled things in the past, the past being 4 months ago. No one was panicking then that millions of people are gonna die this year.

I caught myself going to the supermarket and stocking up on ramen and canned foods. I am still not concerned in the least about the virus but I am getting terrified of all the crazy people. And by being that scared I'm perpetuating the cycle and making things worse for everyone. Thank you to all the morons who transformed this very manageable event into a small crisis. Can't wait for it to become a huge crisis for no reason whatsoever.

About stocking up on things: As China and Italy proved, even in the midst of the crisis the people will be supplied. Maybe not with every article, but I think we don't need to fear about food, water and ... well... toilet paper (why are people so concerned about that). Basically this means we don't have 1918 anymore.
