Hey, this year again the greatest game event is happening on VGC. So I thought, if you want to spread some more Xbox-love, why not join. As an explanation what this is about: the participants post their (subjective) 50 greatest games of all time  at the last 50 days of the year. If you don't have time, you can post your full list at once, but it is more fun to edit the list each day with another title. mzuzek compiles the personal list into a megalist, which he will post in a result thread early next year. In a discussion thread many of us go more into detail, why we love our game of the day. And there is a guessing game which game will listed next based on vague hints. But the basic participation is just creating the TOP 50 list.

If you want to see how it worked in the past years, mzuzek has posted links to the past threads in the sign-up thread linked above, he also explains the details a bit more.

I would be happy to see more people joining in this year.

Because Halo 3 is an FPS and people have some experience with FPS games.  Becoming an average player in Halo/COD etc is not that hard and takes less time.  Gears gameplay is something totally different (check dr disrepects's first gears 5 match)  the wallbouncing/Up A/Direction of the pellets and so on makes it harder to become an average player and especially hard for newcomers....They tried to make it user friendly but TC changed all the noob features.  It is no fun for newcomers to go into a ranked match now.  They end up getting destroyed and have to read in chat 'Ezzy, go play fortnite!! from the opposing team.

I'd agree. I still play Gears 3 online, but man it took a long time to get into back in the day since I was playing Reach and BF3 mostly. While the mic trash talk isn't as prevalent as it used to be, its still there from ALL kinds of people and races.  I remember back in the day everyone would leave the lobby if they spotted a mexican sounding name in fear of those laggy mexican servers. I'm guilty of doing that many times, but I don't recall ever trash talking anybody.

Yeah, Sony is ugly in what they do but they are smart. CoD and Fifa deals in combination with the Champions League sponsoring since forever just ensures that they have Europe in the bag and also can't really lose much in most other countries. Just a few games do that. Well, they obviously need some good own games as well but casuals buying a PS for Fifa and CoD is just huge because people buy the console for mulitiplayer games which their friends own as well.
