Yes to both.
Only 29 remains then. Let's see if someone can figure that one out.

Both are extrememly good guesses, but not correct. You are very close on 30, but it doesn't quite fit my first clue.
Darth Vader is arguably the greatest villain of all time in any medium. The villain I am thinking of is the only other character I can think of that could compete with Vader as the greatest villain of all time.

Kefka may actually be the greatest villain in a video game, but the one I am thinking of transcends any specific medium. You might read a novel or comic book or see a film and still think this is the greatest villain ever. Also, you already successfully guessed FF6 for my #31.

27 is actually Spider-Man 2, but your guess is close enough.
25 is incorrect. It fits the clue, but you guessed this as my #46 game.

32. Final Fantasy VI
First Played: 2002
Times Completed: 5
When this launched for PS1, it came with a playable demo for FFX, so I first played FFVI and FFX on the same day. FFVI is my other favourite 2D FF game this year, a title it and FFV pass back and forth. While I enjoy the combat in FFVI, I slightly prefer the job system from FFV. However, the characters, story, graphics and music are slightly better in FFVI. This game is often ranked at, or near, the top of FF game lists and for good reason. The graphics are good for a SNES JRPG and look nicely detailed. The music is some of the best ever, in any game, and more than sets the scene for powerful and emotional story events.
Like FFV, this game was ported to GBA, with some added content and a re-written script.

Although the main character is from a scientifically advanced planet, he needs to create new items with simple crafting from a less advanced planet to become stronger. Combat involves quick attacks or slow attacks that break guards, with many available combos. 32- Unlike most games in this genre, this game primarily takes place in an urban city. This game features guns, but the ammo is limited as well as the damage. The characters you can recruit can also become more than just friends. 31- This sequel came very late in the system's lifetime, but it shouldn't be ignored. To completely master this game required a lot of gameplay knowledge at the time. It did not feature an infamous antagonist and instead had a unique antagonist. |
33- Star Ocean til the end of Time
A game that mostly takes place in a medieval world, but with some aspects of sci fi. Fayt and Cliff were awesome starters, and although the combat could be quite easy at times, I really enjoyed the change of pace of just slashing enemies to death in a JRPG. The Story was awesome, and recruiting new characters to join your cause was always interesting. The dragonrider character Albel Nox was even voiced by one of my favorite voice actors. It is truly worthy of being one of the top JRPGs of the PS2.
32- Persona 5 =Unguessed
As my first Persona game I had high hopes due to all the praise this JRPG series got, and I was largely satisfied. Persona 5 has one of the best OSTs of any game with some good singing and guitar riffs, the soundtracks all fit well into each area and the boss fights. Speaking of boss fights, the antagonists were all quite fun to deal with, because their villainous backstory was well defined. Each new character recruited also became romance options, as well as each new zone offering more romance options. It was quite enjoyable cutting deep into each character.
31- The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask =Unguessed
It truly was a strong swan song for the N64. The combos of each mask and songs to turn back time and to redo the 72 hours again in order to gain more items were quite enjoyable and felt innovative for the time. Each puzzle, boss, and minigames were enjoyable to play day in and day out.

At cursory look this games seems like Minecraft with a Dragon Quest paint. And that actually isn't that wrong. So initially I thought this game wouldn't be for me, because I never got warm with Minecraft in the first place. But DQB had a free demo on the eShop, and so I thought: why not, give it a try. A few hours later I hit the end of the demo and was surprised, as I had totally forgotten I only played the demo. I wanted to play on, but the game was still some time away from release, so I was awaiting the game eagerly.

What did it make work so much better than Minecraft for me? Well, basically simple things. Quests from the townspeople and the gratifying feeling then you have fulfilled it and townspeople come running and gather around you in a circle and clap their hands, because you built a sleeping room or whatever. Building feels with a purpose, as the game recognizes structures with some basic rules and counts them towards you village score and shows it to you with visual and acoustic feedback. Many buildings enticed also the people to do something, like in a kitchen the villagers started coooking or in a workshop building simple stuff. This was helpful for you. And some basic story with big boss fights that involve building stuff to fight them. These are simple changes on the surface, but they give building a purpose and that makes all the difference.

This game was fun and a good creative experience, because while you follow rules to create buildings, these rules are loose and give you much room to provide your own touch. You have a endgame free builders island too, in which you can build as you wish.
