Pillars of Eternity is a throwback to the old Infinity games, including Baldur's Gate, but with newer technology. This was pitched for crowdfunding and became one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns for gaming. That is how much people loved the idea to get a new Infinity game. It probably helped, that Obsidian was founded by people who formerly worked at Black Isle.

Same as in the old Infinity games, you move your party through gorgeous environments and interact in many ways with the environment and characters. The game is an RPG, with pause-based gameplay. Which means the fight is going on and you can give commands, but you can pause if you want to give more detailed commands. Back then Baldur's Gate had a D&D-license, but for Pillars of Eternity Obsidian developed their own gaming system.

The story features a world of Eora in turmoil. Some years ago an event called the Saints War saw a person claiming to be the god Eothas lead a war, but he was eventually killed leaving worshippers of Eothas in doubt. Many children are born without a soul, these are called Hollowborne and the epedemic of these happening is causing fear. Some magicians called animancers experiment with transferring souls, often resulting in the creation of monsters. You play the watcher, a person who can sense souls.

The game was so successful, Obsidian made a successor, Pillars of Eternity 2.

And there we have another one of these excellent LucasArts adventures. This is a point-and-click adventure, but you play three different characters, Bernard, Laverne and Hoagie, which are transported to different times and have to work together to stop purple tentacle from taking over the world. This is sort of a sequel to Maniac Mansion, it reuses some of it's whacky characters and locations. As with many LucasArts adventures, the game were fun, the fun even baked into the puzzles.

The story is set in motion, after purple tentacle drinks from the river which is filled with toxic waste from Dr. Fred Edisons laboratory and grows arms. With this he decides to take over the world. Dr. Fred calls Bernard and his friends for help and tries to send them back two days into the past to surn of the machinery to produce the toxic waste. But this fails and so Laverne lands 200 years in the future ruled by purple tentacle, Hoagie 200 years in the past and Bernard stays in the present.

The game got a remaster a few years back with updated graphics.

Did you ever ask yourself what would happen, if you mix the characters of Persona with the gameplay of Etrian Odyssey? Well, we know what happened, it is called Persona Q.

Mixing the labyrinth exploration of Etrian Odyssey, with all the little secrets, events, traps and so on with the style of Persona was an incredible idea. This works as a great dungeon crawling RPG. And with the level design magic of Atlus, this is a winner.

You start off from a cursed high school which gives way to a dangerous labyrinth with strange monsters. But with your party of chibified highschoolers from Persona 3 and Persona 4 you face these dangers. This is in the end another great game in 3DS excellent library.

So, I disappeared for a while. Had the last Smash weekly of the year this past weekend, and right after that I got ill, and during that my new desk arrived, which meant I spent most of today rearranging my room into what is a substantially better layout in every way. I'm still a little sick, to be honest, but I'm good enough to get back on here. Time to catch up.

#16 - Released 17 years ago, it is still the last game in the series' timeline, despite several other releases in that time.
#15 - The only game in this long-running franchise that ditched all older "characters", forcing the players to use new ones until the post-game.
#14 - Still this developer's latest game, released almost 6 years ago. Whatever they've worked on during that time was presumably scrapped, but they're onto a new project now.

#14: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Still got a lot of unguessed games:

#22
Hint 1: Get all of your characters to the other side.
Hint 2: Each round is set in a different time period.
Hint 3: You can also win by just killing all enemies in the level.
Hint 4: You start the game with three characters. In each level, you can pick up a new character.

#20
Hint 1: It's just like old television.
Hint 2: The first hint was like a cryptic-ish thing.
Hint 3: New York.
Hint 4: 2011.

#19
Hint 1: Sequel to #20.
Hint 2: Only numbered game in the franchise.
Hint 3: Most of the map is the same as in #19, but there are some new parts.
Hint 4: 2012.

#18
Hint 1: Both old and new levels.
Hint 2: It's one of the only franchises in which speedrunning is actually fun.
Hint 3: It's a fan game, but it's also official.

#17
Hint 1: World with altered physics.
Hint 2: Same franchise as #19 and #20.
Hint 3: This is also a 'sequel', but it's a lot more similar to the previous games than game #19 is to #20.

#16
Hint 1: Easter Island.
Hint 2: Four Worlds.

#15
Hint 1: Only game in the franchise that got released simultaneously with another (similarly named) entry.

#14
Hint 1: The new version of this game could make it one of the best selling games of all time.

Guessed by Farsala

This is supposed to be a children's game, but playing it as a child myself, it never felt like one. It's because it makes you think. Think about strategy, think several moves in advance, and being flexible in your responses to the actions of the AI. It's a turn based strategy game, where you, starting as the lone Gaul village surrounded by the Romans, must take back the provinces in Gaul and reach all the way to Italy. Every turn you get a certain number of 'Magic Potions' to distribute amongst your regions, which are effectively a region's armies, and chose whether or not to attack a Roman region. Certain regions contain bonus stages, like a platforming level. This was a clever game, and the only PlayStation game a friend of mine ever liked.

18: Sonic Mania?

15: Zelda: Oracle of Ages?

14: Mario Kart 8?

#14: The player's character is hailed as a great hero from a battle long ago. In reality however, he wasn't anything of the sort, and he died almost immediately.
