A few reasons I can come up with:
1. He is the President. Even though I'm not a fan, if I had the opportunity to see the President of the United States in person, I'd do it. I've definitely more Democrat but I've gone to see GA Governor Brian Kemp AND Laura Bush when they came to my area.
2. He's a celebrity. He's bigger than life. I have comic books from the 90s that talk about the guy. My wife and I watched the documentary "American Pimp" from like 2001 and one if the Pimps had their picture with the guy!
3. Some people just like him. Hate him or love him, he has his fans that just adore him and will defend him to the death. There are people who have lost money due to his decisions and they still support him.
4. The Democratic party just sucks right now. To be Democratic, you have to "cosign" on a lot of things that you may not agree with because they want to appeal to everyone's morals. With Republicans, it's simple. Guns, no abortion, church. That's about it. There may be more. That's the gist of it. Also there's a strong "Looking out for ourselves" thing going on. People like when it's "Us vs Them".

I'll give you interesting because he's such a nut job. Likable and down to earth? The same guy calling Mexican immigrants rapists?? Pffft
Well, Trump is a populist, as well as a fairly strong character (whether you like that character or not). Doesn't seem like a surprise to me.

This. Democrats are already too busy with their shifts at Starbucks, sitting in prision or being homeless junkies.
But seriously... dems are very divided as there is nobody with charisma on top of that. If democrats had another Obama, they would hate this person for being too socialist, not socialist enough or argue how progressive this person is in general.
Trump is barely a republican in my opinion and in practice he's been a moderate. He has a platform, he doesent pander to appeal to PC bullshit, he's sadly the most human politician I can point to.

The same talking points republicans say whenever its noon on Tuesday and people are protesting.
Why people attribute all democrats or republicans as the same as the people they see on TV always baffles me.
It's like whenever people talk bad about Christians, they think we are all like East Bethel Church or something.
