Damn, it would have been interesting, I guess I should have known.

The US Senate votes against abortion rights.
In the last year we’ve learned that Republicans are fiery advocates for bodily autonomy, except if you’re a woman.
If you’re a woman, the government controls your body.
A brilliant case of hypocrisy.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Well for Republicans, its 2 lives at stake in this situation not one. If you believe that a fetus is life and has a soul then the termination of that fetus is considered murder. Not stating this is right or wrong but the situation is nuanced. The key here is does the fetus have any rights to life which is the main point. Having sex is a decision and not using any contraceptives by either man or woman is also a decisions. In a lot of cases the woman is in control of how the sexual situation goes down and if she decides nothing happens without contraceptives then it doesn't. Sex and the consequences of it does have a certain amount of responsibility. Currently Abortion is an easy solution to a complex problem but its not all hypocrisy. So in this situation its the rights of woman to command total body autonomy and whether a fetus once conceived has a right to life. I doubt most will see eye to eye on this one, especially in the US and especially since its a political bulwark between Dems and GOP.
Throughout history ,I believe Christians have found that trying to force people to believe as they do has always gone wrong, I believe this is also a path that will have the same results. Its like the GOP find themselves back in the old catch 22 where they condemn low income families for having a lot of children, get on some assistance program and condemn them for having babies all the while they want those very same people to be forced to have a child when most do not have the financial means to care for it. This opens up the whole adoption trade which one article brought up when viewing Alito summary but even then, every baby is not wanted at the same level and race does play a big role here.
Interesting enough, in most portrayal of the devil, a lot of times the devil give you exactly what you ask for knowing that there is a another side to getting what you want and consequences. I do wonder if this is the case. GOP has pushed for this for a long time and they are very close to getting what they want but in the process might also set them back decades. We will see once this judgement happens.
Happy trails, Jen. I didn't realize she'd already done more press briefings in 16 months than all of Trump's press secretaries combined. I hope Karine is able to cut through all the bad faith questions as well as her predecessor.
Idk how long it'll take the average American to realize that their red/blue neighbor isn't the problem. A majority of Dems and Repubs are two sides of the same corporate-owned coin. A lot of corporations and high-seated individuals in those corporations have a history in donating and lobbying for both Dems and Repubs when it's convenient for them, your individual rights and beliefs be damned.
A majority of Americans agree that abortion should be legal but here we have rumor that Supreme Court Justices, appointed for life mind you, might just strike down that right to bodily integrity. Who appointed these people to rule for life? Corporate bought politicians that's who. Same with universal healthcare, a majority of Americans believe there should be comprehensive universal healthcare provided by the government but guess what we don't have.
And people actually think the reason U.S. electoral politics gives way to so little meaningful change, is because Joe Blow down the street happens to be blue/red.
The U.S. political machine is working as intended and it's intended to work for the 1% not the 99%.

Who appointed these justices?
Republicans.
The "corporate owned stuff" doesn't even really work for this. Corporations don't have much stake in the abortion debate. If anything, banning abortion is anti-business because it harms the legal business surrounding abortion and pushes people towards illegal options. The problem here is Republicans. We don't need to mince words or come up with secretive schemes to explain it. Republicans have been telling us their plans for decades. The problem is Republicans, and the people let them have power.

I agree republican politicians are to blame, I never said they weren't. Yes that "corporate own stuff" does work for this, how do you think they get their money and who do you think lobbies them to be in power??? This information is publicly available, I'm surprised you don't think these things are interconnected.

Corporate funding definitely has huge power in DC. I am speaking specifically about abortion. This is a Republican pet cause, not a corporate America one. Like, sure, argue that opposition to Universal Health Care is largely fueled by the dollars of companies who are immensely profitable under our broken system. I won't stop you there. But I think it's somewhat delusional to "both sides" abortion here.
You could perhaps blame Democrats for being too milquetoast and refusing to take certain important steps, but the rights we are losing are being taken by Republicans. Full stop.

I wasn't "both sides" about abortion I just didn't specifically state that it was Republicans in that part is all. I just thought that specific issue was 100% obvious I was referring to corporate bought Republicans. I'll be more specific next time for you.
Speaking of the inconsistently retarded......
"Democrats have said you have to vote Dem in November to save abortion rights & yet Nancy Pelosi & Jim Clyburn have both endorsed Henry Cuellar, an anti-abortion Democrat in his primary. How do you square those 2 things?"
