some people still believe in that 10 year life cycle... ???? so in 2016 they still be doing the PS3 ??? I mean that could have worked if they had a total monopoly... or a brilliant success like the PS2 or the WII now...but I don't believe they still can rich that target... especially if the other come up with something new way before 2016....

and none of these console will equal.. PS2 software sales.....

it will have many more ltd console sales than ps2 by end of gen....and at least a dozen million or 2 of the ps2s were replacements...and wii is expanding the market, thus more sales

I would say the 360 would be the closest by the end of this generation, because clearly when you compare the wii software to 360 software, 360 wins outright, yet the Wii has more hardware sales. Fact of the matter is, if the 18~ million 360 owners continue to buy software (and considering that they are known as a large part of the core gamer market that looks likely), I would say it'll be the best candidate.

But no, I doubt any console will hit ps2 levels of software sales.

I don't think any of the current gen consoles will move as much and certainly not more software than the PS2, no.
The install base is one thing to consider, but there's also the enormous lifespan of the thing, its still going strong 8 years into its cycle!
And the tremendous support is another, there are still high quality, big budget titles being developed for the PS2, and I don't think we'll see this ever again simply because I don't believe there will be such a dominating force on the market again. (Yes to all Wii fans, its selling fast as fuck but is nowhere near as dominating as the PS2 is/was, so don't try to tell me that it is just because you want it to).

Il say no . It was a huge leader , with more than 70% of the market , and had a huge attach ratio and tons of 3rd party exclusive support ... so no , no console wont outsell it , not even the DS IMO ...

That's a good idea, since the DS will probably mop the floor with the PS2.

You're looking at consoles that are less than two years into their life cycle. It's just way too early to say.  The Wii is selling faster than the PS2 did, so that's promising, but whether or not it will push as much software depends on how well third parties support the Wii. Obviously, it has the "nintendo advantage" in so much as it is virtually guaranteed to sell hundreds of millions of copies of Nintendo titles.
