Forums - Sales - Will any system sell as much software as the PS2?

I dont think any of these current gen consoles can.

The xbox 360 looks to be running out of games.

Most wii owners are casual gamers that dont really buy more than 3 games.

PS3 will never get to 90 million consoles sold so I dont think a system with a smaller userbase can sell more software than the ps2.

why did the ps2 have great 3rd,1st, and 2nd party support?

I think it was because it was easy to develop for, and it had a much bigger userbase which was a good oppurtunity for developers to make games that can appeal to everyone.

The ps2 was the hardest to develop for with it having the emotion engine. Um Does pc count?

PC never counts dude, you should know that by now.  No, I don't think any of these consoles will sell as much software as the PS2 did.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

The PS3 is starting to pick up. It has been outselling the 360 in the US for several weeks and in Europe ever since the system came out there

No not including PC.

O ya I forgot to add.

the PS2 wouldve probably even doubled its software sales if it wasnt so easy to mod.

He's talkimg about software, and even if he was talking about hardware it would never happen.

The DS in Japan can move more software than the PS2 did in Japan. I'd say that's pretty big.

the software is also starting to pick. Just wait for MGS4 and you'll see what I mean

I do not think the PS3 or 360 will do it, Wii may stand a chnace if it matches the userbase of ps2.
