I.E. Not on Games for Windows Live! 2.0/Windows Store.

4 years. Still a long time and I don't necessarily disagree with you.
But if only more developers would take note and fix their games instead of moving onto the next thing, it does help build good will.
| Mr Puggsly said: In its current state, I dare say it can single handedly justify a X1 purchase. Its beautiful man, beautiful! |
Definitely the best way to play a chunk of the series.
Shame they didn't include Reach though.
And why is there still no Spartan Strike on Xbox?

I want it on steam so I can stream it to my projector :(

Still easy to find people playing Halo 1 and its not that far from 20 years. If MCC ever gets a PC release, it could be popular if handled properly. |
Well I didn't say no one will care about MCC in 20 years, I said I wouldn't. So that is why for me Super Mario All-Star is better/more relevant collection. I'm perfectly fine with you thinking Halo MCC is better though.

Mr Puggsly said: I don't think it would have reviewed that well on its own, maybe in the mid 80s at best. Which is surprisingly the score MCC received even while it was a mess. Probably because it was always a solid way to play the campaigns. |
If Halo MCC didn't have bugs and the multiplayer worked on release, the collection would have been very close to 90. Most of its criticisms was due to the non functioning MP.
If Halo 2 Remastered was launched as a stand alone game with a working MP mode, the game would have been an easy 9 all round. The game even 4 years later is better than majority of the FPS games on the market that released afterwards.
The unworking package is what let Halo MCC down on the critics front. Its working now and I had no issues with the campaigns at launch. Definently a must own package, plus include Rare's Replay in your collection and you are set. Amazing nostalgias packages.

I have to say that I bought MCC day one and never regretted it. The things that I bought it for worked which was co-op campaigns, and split screen MP. MCC still today gets a lot of play within my household because my son and his friends play it all the time. Whether they are going through the campaign again in co-op or they are playing 4 player split screen. Still one of the few games or collections out there that does this. Those items along made MCC a 9 in my book.

Yes and no.
Halo multiplayer isnt the beast it once was. But MCC is number 41 on most played games as of right now. Its one of the oldest games among that list as well.
I agree people haved moved away, but its ranking suggest there are still thousands playing all the time. The game is still very active and it should remain that way even in the 9th gen.

Even before the big patch it was surprisingly still active.
You can't always fine a specific game mode being played online, but as I said already there must be thousands playing all the time based on its player ranking. So you can easily find games of Halo 1 through 4 quickly.
Again, I've been playing the game for months now and there is no real population issue. You can easily find any Halo being played in various modes.

Steam and Windows Store with crossplay would do very well
To be fair MCC wasnt really 343's mustake. It was handled by 3rd parties and MS ultimate made the call to leave it buggy. Sometimes I sense people go rogue at MS to fix problems.
I would love Reach. It would look so much better running natively on X1 hardware.
I really enjoyed Spartal Assault, I beat it on both 360 and X1 for achievments. I have it for Windows but I want it on Xbox.

The game has really turned around since its launch. I played it this weekend without knowing about the new social playlist searching function. I was pleasantly surprised! I'm happy they have continued support after all these years. It gives me hope for Halo infinite. Supposedly, they are working on adding Halo:Reach. If they can get Firefight in there as well, oh boy!
Btw, the Flood take over on the main menu is awesome!
