Lets be honest here..... while I love E3 wht you just said is BS.

E3 was of and for  a time before the internet and Youtube and live streaming. Like lets be honest, that press conference at e3, the "millions" you rightly pointed out that tune into it do so how? Youtube? Twitch?

The simple truth is that sony..... scratch that. No one needs E3 anymore. Not in the world we live in right now.

Really? How? Nintendo Directs don't come close to the Twitch concurrent viewership that was earned by MS, Sony, Ubi and the likes. You think PSX gets nearly as many viewers? Not even close. Remember this is just Twitch numbers being better than a dedicated Nintendo stream. Include Youtube, and other sites, it kills anything any independent stream has ever done. E3 is the King of gaming hype every year. More so now, as social media takes over. Overtaking sports, and other news for the day. Gaming hype leaks into casual and non-gamers feeds. You think Nintendo came crawling back to the E3 stage for no reason? That you don't understand the CHEAP ASF advertising they get from producing a show shocks me.

I told you already....what good would it do if they’d spoil their show in December? Best case they disappoint like they did this year. They’ve already announced most of their big games...they most likely won’t announce anything PS5 related prior to December as well.

And seriously...putting up a show like this is anything but “cheap advertising”. Their trailers will just get as any views if they just publish them and announce them over Twitter.

RIP PlayStation. It was nice knowing ya.

Unfortunately, it's more like RIP E3.

E3 is just fine tho. Sony's E3 in 2020 gonna be pretty hype at this point it would seem.

Alright Sony, I revoke my comment about your presentation being a bit pretentious and boring. Will you come back to E3 now?

Signature goes here!

If I had to guess, we've seen all the major PS4 exclusives left on the system: Days Gone, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part II. We've seen some gameplay from each of the four and all that's really left is to announce release dates for them. They probably don't want to have conference if they aren't going to reveal anything substantial. Although, some could argue Death Stranding probably needs one more showcase to give a better idea of what it is. Also, God of War, Spider-Man and Days Gone had their release dates revealed though Playstation's blog if I remember correctly. I can see the other three having their release dates revealed similarly.

I assume there will be an event later in 2019 to celebrate Playstation's 25th anniversary where the PS5 will be officially announced and/or revealed. Holiday 2020 release.

PS 2018 show was a mess. Maybe they just want to focus solely on there own event like PSX.

Well microsoft's e3 just got 10x bigger.

Well, not really.

Depends entirely on what the alternative is to this from Sony. As much as them not being at E3 will suck, whatever they decide to do may be just as good.

Well think about it like this, if Sony aren't there at all, then every AAA 3rd party game is actually going to look like an X1 exclusive, I'd wager that a drinking game for the MS show which involved even drinking a sip of water each time the word Exclusive is uttered would have you drowned at your PC.

Like I said in my article comment on this, before the holiday season is a very poor time to even hint that you're changing the playing field... when you are dominating the game as it stands, it would be like a team going 10:0 up and then announcing plans to sub out their Goalie.... for something different... like a can of Pepsi max in a dressing gown. Sony have said a few times this Generation that they were even shocked at the success the PS4 had... if they have stumbled onto a winning formula they shouldn't do a damn thing that could upset that, especially given they're not certain what caused it as they might not be able to repeat that again with the PS5, there was a lot of factors involved in making the PS4 the dominant selling beast what it is right now, and honestly Sony can't control or replicate those again, unless Sony force MS to rehire Don Mattick and send him out on stage to reveal another new system and then suggest that if people don't like it they can stick to playing the X360 again.

Also ... consider those people who've not bought a PS4 by now, surely they have to be the most casual / thrifty of gamer that after 5 years on the market now is the time they think to jump in, it's people like that in my opinion that could well tighten their purse strings yet again when the news of Sony stopping a 24 year tradition of going to E3 hits.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Man and I was hoping for FF7Remake to appear at E3 LOL

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

That’s nonsense. Microsoft always try to make all the multiplatform games they show look as if they were exclusives. Gamers aren’t stupid. It’s not gonna make a difference. Microsoft better hope Sony won’t tease PS5 before E3, like that Resetera rumour suggests.

There are still going to be game announcements and lots of new trailers anyway.
