Gotta catch up!

Best campfire scene EVER @TruckOSaurus

#12
2018 has seen an abundance of great games from the sub-genre inspired by this game and, three years later, a PS1 exclusive.

#11
This sequel to #12, pre-launch, did not seem like the masterpiece it's considered today.

13: Chrono Trigger?

12: Super Metroid?

11: That would make this Metroid Prime, I guess.

All three right! :)

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
(Change YoY: -2)

Over the last decade or so the Uncharted series has become one of my favourite video game franchises of all time. I jumped into the series sometime before the release of the second game when I bought the first game cheap mostly out of curiosity and desire to get something to play on my PS3 at the time. I liked the first game, but I was left with the feeling that the game just lacked a little bit of polish to push it to the next level. The second game then pretty much fixed all of the first ones issues, and is still in my eyes one of the best games on the console. The third was yet another excellent game that more or less matched the second in spectacle, but did feel a little like just a retread of the previous game.

A Thief's End needed to bring something fresh into the series, either in terms of gameplay or narrative or something, and it did by focusing on an aging Nathan Drake whose best adventuring days are behind him as he's settled down to live with Elena Fischer. This gives it enough of a different perspective, from the altered character dynamics that come from them being years older, as well as with the introduction of some great new characters as well. In my opinion this was a great way to end Nathan Drake's story, and although I fully expect the series itself to continue for many years to come, the focus should probably shift away from him and into new main characters, like they did with the excellent The Lost Legacy.

#14 - In contrast to some of this franchise's previous existentialist villains, the bad guys this time around just want everyone dead.
It's the only game in this series to boast two stages in Smash Bros.

Is it Pokemon X/Y?

I love this game. The battles, the characters, the sad story, the music, the silly stuff in between - it all works so well. Combined with stellar level design this games becomes a great experience. It's old by now and the graphic dated, but it works as well as ever. Not that I wouldn't like a HD-remaster - why shouldn't I - but even without it the game outshines a lot of newer games.

Oof. Thanks for giving me that whole page, we can now ignore it within the thread. I'm not done catching up, though, so I'm continuing the speedrun by adding a third hint to the next few games.

#14 - In contrast to some of this franchise's previous existentialist villains, the bad guys this time around just want everyone dead.
It's the only game in this series to boast two stages in Smash Bros.
It's the first game in this series to go full 3D, with previous entries using a mix of 3D and 2D sprites (mostly sprites though).

#12 - A game all about hats.
Though it is a pretty light-hearted and fun game, you do eventually fight a huge dragon in some dark ruins.
It's one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time.

Pokémon X & Y and Super Mario Odyssey. Knew both of them by the first hint, but I don't come here enough anymore.

Going to put some easy hints, so I can move on to my top 10.

#30
- 8 games
- This character stars in a new game coming out very soon
- The last hint is incorrect now, since that game already came out
- The European name is different from the American one
- Pink
- It's a Kirby game (how did no one guess this yet??)

#24
- Get all your guys to the exit
- Or, you can also just beat all enemies
- Every round plays in a different period of time
- This game is also included in the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis Classics collection that recently came out

#23
- Fourth game in the series, but chronologically it's the first
- Solve puzzles
- Ghost gets summoned with a flute
- Level-5

#18
- 99
- Vessel flute
- Released in 1998 for the N64

#16
- 55% attatch rate
- Vroom vroom

#13
- 9999 to become a skeleton
- Hats

#12
- Bowser minimises Mario and the others
- Party with two screens

#11
- The third world is Easter Island
- Same franchise as #12 and #13

OK, more hints, starting to go into the TOP 5.
