Finally done with that, sorry for the insane spam. I've still some catching up to do, though, so here are a few more hints:

#29 - The best SMB game. No, it doesn't feature Mario.
#28 - This game is all about cake.
#27 - An indie game that was recently re-released on the Switch. It bears quite some resemblance to some Zelda games, most noticeably A Link to the Past gameplay-wise, and Majora's Mask in some of the world design. It has quite a dark atsmophere though, and some intense combat that's quite unlike most console games.
#26 - Remember when I said the creator of AM2R was now working for an indie developer? Well, this is the only game said indie developer has released so far.

28: I feel like Portal is too obvious, so Fat Princess?

27: Was Blossom Tales released on the Switch? That might be it I guess.

Both right. I tried getting really specific with HLD because it's a hard game to guess.

There are quite some 3D-zelda clones on Switch, but I don't remember much dark tone. I didn't purchase and play Hyperlight Drifter yet, but I saw trailers and catched the darker drift, so I speculated it might be that.

It's Overcooked 2, but close enough, I'll give it to you :P

28: Maybe Mario 64, but I don’t think Peach is fat.

Second hint time, forgot one yesterday, but not today;

#28: Two swords; one good, one evil.
...
And it's not Skyward Sword.
Hint 2: There is a soul in these swords though.

Some more hints.

28.  Portal, but that game is not about cake, because the cake is a lie.
27.  Binding of Isaac?

Nope. And I see I made a ridiculous error and turned under the burning suns into under the burning sons.

Hollow Knight
(Change YoY: NEW!)

In recent years the popularity of Dark Souls has brought us a slew of games trying to emulate its style and gameplay, but the vast majority of them are just poorly designed and cheap copies that completely miss the entire appeal of Dark Souls. However, there have been some genuinely great games that have come out of this as well, and perhaps the best so far is Hollow Knight. It features the kind of interconnected world, difficult gameplay and lore hidden in the small details of the world that Dark Souls does so well, while changing and adding enough of its own things to stand out on its own as well. After seeing so many games miss the point of Dark Souls by just being punishingly difficult without any thought put into it, Hollow Knight was a revelation.

This was, and is, the second best game of 2017 in my opinion, and the best "soulslike" game not developed by FromSoftware I've played so far. Dark Souls is one of my favourite game series ever, and to see other developers taking inspiration from it and finding new and interesting ways to approach the formula is just awesome.

Also, no guesses for this one yet, so here are some additional hints for it.

#27:

This game starts a new subseries within this franchise.

Takes place after the events of another trilogy in the series, and during two other games which have so far not been released in the west.

The main characters are members of a special class in a military academy.

Takes place in the Erebonian Empire.

First of four games in this particular subseries. The last two have not been released in the west yet.
