Is this Metroid Zero Mission?

Took you long enough.

Edit: also,
#38 - Three cities.

Yeah, I hadn't checked in a while. No idea for #38 so I'll just guess FFXI at random.

40.  Pixel Junk Monsters (PS3)  - guessed by Mnementh
“Why isn’t this game higher? You spent so much time playing it.  That’s what my wife told me when I showed her where this game was on my list last year.  It’s true.  I spent tons and tons of time playing it, but that is true of all of the other games on this list as well.  This is now my top tower defense game on this list.  I love it.  I really wish more tower defense games would be released on consoles.  My top 100 games is my short list, and my top 50 is my very short list.

While time spent usually is a good marker of games you like, it is not that alone. See, my #41 is Attack of the Friday Monsters, which is by all means a short game as as an adventure not much of a replay value. But it evokes great feelings and I think back to it fondly and often. That's why it earned it's spot.

Anyways, I'm not too much into tower defense games, although they sometimes make for a good distraction here and then. The tower defense games I like the most, are the ones that are different in some way. One is Dillons Rolling Western, which mixes up tower defense with other elements to make for a good game. The other is - don't laugh - ZaciSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimension, which has only few slots for towers, but allows for a lot of upgrades, including most importantly reach, which allows to combine weapon effects.

Back there in my DOS-gaming days I one time stumbled upon Pinball Dreams. Playing that was a blast. The tables were interesting, the gameplay fun, the music was so great. I also loved the successors, Pinball Fanatasies and Pinball Illusions. For a long time no other Pinball simulator came even near the fun I had with these.

There is not much to say about the games, they are Pinball games, but oh they work so well. Sound effects were incredible for that time. And the gameplay was so addictive.

Publisher 21st century is lost to the times, they were going into financial difficulties years later and were going bankrupt. Developer Digital Illusions CE on the other is very much alive. You may recognize them now under the name DICE, and as a subsidiary of EA these days they are very important as developers of the Frostbite engine and Battlefield.

Star Ocean 3?

Time for a second hint;

#38: This game's story runs parallel to the movie, but it's opening level replicates the movie's opening scene chillingly perfect.

Hint 2: But, it seems in this opening scene there's more walkers taken down than in the movie, and you win, except you still lose. Creative freedom I guess.

Assassin's Creed II
(Change Yoy: -3)

Assassin's Creed is a series I have very complicated feeling about. On one hand games like AC II and Brotherhood are some of the best games I played during the previous console generation, but the again because they started releasing games every single year Ubisoft quickly just killed my interest in the series just because of oversaturation. The last straw for me was Assassin's Creed III, which was a step down from the Ezio trilogy in every single way. Still, no matter how things have changed, Assassin's Creed II is still an amazing game, and no matter what happened later in the series I can always look back at this game fondly.

Ezio is the best main character in the series, reneissance Italy is an amazing setting, and the new additions to the gameplay were all great. This was also before Ubisoft started throwing dozens of different gameplay mechanics into these games, so the world and gameplay never feel cluttered or pointless here.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron

#38 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

As my roommate got the Wii, I decided to buy the new Zelda game for the console, as I heard Zelda games are good. Yes, Twilight princess was my first Zelda. And it certainly was great. It had a good story, much to discover and learn until the two realms were freed.

I certainly enjoyed movement and fighting in wolf-form, this was so very satisfying. Also Midna was great and I was kinda sad that she turned back into Twilight Princess form at the end.

It was rereleased as a HD-remaster on the WiiU (the ultimate Zelda-machine).
