Do you understand how game development works? Because I don't think you do. The PUBLISHER is the one who calls the shots because they own the IP (Activi$ion in this case), not the developer. |
The game developer is the one who puts it on the disc. Toys for Bob dont exactly sound like a knowledgable dev team at work here. Probably are not great at optimising games at this stage.
Feel free to hate Activision all you like. I wont stop you.
Also lootboxes and game storage are two completely different things. Activision gain nothing from doing this hence why i am not jumping on the Activision hate train just yet.

Me, too. And to make matters worse, this time, they might not warn people in advance since, hur dur, part of the 2nd and 3rd game are still on the disc. Can't say I'm really surprised, though, this is Activi$ion we're talking about. Again, fuck Activi$ion 'til the end of time. I will forever be referring to them as Activi$ion with a dollar sign from hereon out after all their shenanigans. They're really starting to give EA a run for their money. |
It is sad when one of the few decent games the pub release is hostage to these practices.

I don't remember original Spyro being online multiplayer heavy. And needing patches is quite different than launching the game needing download to even run.
And all fault is at the pub since that changes how much profit they get for download instead of physical.

I'm getting this digital for my son on his xbox. He loves Spyro in Skylanders and was super excited when he saw the video for this

If the publisher mandates the second and third games in a compilation not be on the disc, you better believe that's how it's going to be. Just like it was Activi$ion's call to put the 50 GB day 1 patch in the physical edition of BO4 to strongarm people into buying it digitally, Treyarch had nothing to do with that just like they had nothing do to with the BO3 Back in Black maps being locked behind digital pre-orders of BO4 exclusively on PS4.
Hell, even after the delay, the 2nd and 3rd games STILL aren't (fully) on the disc. It was an Acti decision, hoping the backlash would blow over. That's all it was. Hell, they probably did this so they could shadily get around having to disclose it on the game cover like they initially did.

I would like to play Spyro but decided to not play any game activision has publishing rights over since the practices they have are very destructive for whats left of the consumerfriendly gamermarket, i alone cannot do shit but this ball needs to start rolling and i hope many agree with this.

Last gen i think and i do not understand why you think consumers cannot start with just not backing one of the worst, does it always have to be fully with or fully against?

Capcom has released 3 compilations with downloadable content and Activision has released 1...

Sorry if i was not clear but i did not play Capcom games yet this gen and that does not even matter, low effort to vote with my own money is better than no effort at all and i do not care if Activision has less compilations with downloadable content because its not all they do and i do not solely stop backing them for just that .
I do not have any disagreement with you, Capcom has bad practices so there you go and can i now personally choose where to put my own money ? :p
