The race to a million remains a nail biter to the end. :P

Seriously though, does it really matter as these numbers are weeks old and its safe to say both are over a million physical by now, and may well have been over a million for months if we include digital? Two more third party million sellers on Switch should be a cause for celebration.

Global Software by Platform

PlatformWeekly (change)Total
PS4 1,073,216 (+11%) 547,192,397
NS 999,116 (-21%) 63,432,364
XOne 487,639 (+35%) 251,531,679
3DS 134,315 (-8%) 316,450,934
PC 18,432 (+8%) N/A
PS3 18,177 (+5%) 956,798,643
X360 13,544 (+13%) 979,355,967
PSV 10,316 (-16%) 65,506,138
WiiU 8,084 (+14%) 92,870,744
Wii 4,093 (+15%) 912,018,909

Those numbers make sense to me as PS4 has a tonne more games than Switch, so lower sales across a higher quantity of games is giving it the edge. Although the fact that Switch is within spitting distance of PS4 with less than 1/4 of the PS4's userbase is still pretty amazing!

Plus, I think it's safe to say that a larger proportion of Switch's software sales are 1st party compared to PS4, which means more profit per sale - which I'd imagine means a larger overall profit, which is really the only number that matters (to Sony & Nintendo anyway).

Ps4 digital would be far higher then switch and Sony get a 30% cut from all third parties on there. Digital sales of their own games would be higher and they give them 100% cut. PS plus far more lucrative. Switch maybe a close number 2 to ps4 now but overall in 2018 ps4 will sell way more.

Without digital these charts are getting boring.

A year from now and the entire top 20 will be Switch only lol.

Although PS4 digital probably is much higher than Switch, it wouldn't change too much at the big picture (although single games like MonHun World and Octopath look much better), as I already explained: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8875853

I never knew Sea of Thieves sold so poorly

Wait, since this is the second week for Octopath Traveler, does that mean that at that point it had a 65% digital attach rate since it was announced that it sold 1 million digital+retail just 2 weeks after release?

It definitely changes things because Sony make so much more profit from 3rd party digital and 1st party digital. PS plus brings in insane digital revenue too.
