Forums - Sales Discussion - UK: Octopath Traveler charting at #3 (#1 in terms of revenue), doubling sales of Bravely Default

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2018-07-21-octopath-traveler-impresses-in-european-charts

Octopath in the combined SKU physical and digital sales in EMEA charts comes in at 2 and in the individuals is number 1. The chart does not include digital sales on Nintendo consoles so it's really impressive.

Here is the GSD Combined Physical/Retail Chart for EMEA (Week Ending July 15th):

Last W       This W        Title
2                 1                  FIFA 18
NE              2                 Octopath Traveler
2                 3                 Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
963            4                 Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
3                 5                 The Crew 2
4                 6                 Grand Theft Auto V
6                 7                 Mario Tennis Aces
7                 8                 Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
15               9                 Super Mario Odyssey
12              10                Minecraft: Nintendo Edition

For some reason they didn't do charts like last week and only included one and only the top 10.

This is some super hyperbole.  It doesn't show that what so ever.

Maybe I should have reworded it a bit. They don't want ONLY  Heavy cinematic RPGs of today. I want more RPGs that depend on more Role-Playing and Gameplay than something that is hellbent on telling a story. Octopath Selling shows that there is a market for people like me.

Cinematic is not really a point of contention imo. The crux here is the turnbased gameplay and art direction. People want traditional RPGs and that experiences, this  doesn't necessarily have to be massively budgeted.

Captain Toad sold copies last week to chart at #963 and FIFA and Crash both were ranked second last week, but no title was ranked first? Has the intern written this list in ten minutes? Sorry, that's not directed at you, but at the source. The article even notes Captain Toad raising over 900 places, without thinking about that strange thing and checking the release date.

Captain Toad was including the already released Wii U version, so it rising over 900 spots isn't a mistake. Crash and Fifa being listed as number 2 for last week is though.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. That makes sense for Captain Toad, didn't think about it.

I wonder how many copies do you have to sell to be #963, maybe like 20 or something like that lol

OT: Octopath snapped.
