The Switch is selling 200K+ per week on Indie titles; they don't NEED an update let alone need one ASAP.

It'll be a nice addition to get a biennial update cadence like their handhelds. Give a Switch 2 in 2019, a Switch 3 in 2021, no exclusive content, just better performance; similar to iOS with mandatory support of all software for 5 years except in special cases with non-gaming applications that take advantage of new hardware features.

The $129 DS looks archaic compared to my $600 Iphone. It won't be long until the DS is obsolete and destroyed! *DS sales remain unaffected*

History tends to repeat itself as always. Nintendo will make a new Switch model but the chances of it being a Switch Pro are slim until 2021. Chances are that the OP will still be complaining that it is too weak.

At the moment there is my opinion no need for any new model. Should sales be under Nintendos expectations then I would first do a price cut.

No need of a new model soon, numbers are great and the console is amazing. There is some issues but... like pretty much every console ever.
I can see a new model coming 2020 maybe against the new consoles or 2019 if they release them that year. But tbh it doesn't really need one or atleast not right now.

I'm ok without a Pro model, but I am waiting for a price cut hardware revision with better battery life and smaller bezels before jumping in. Hopefully that wait won't be much longer.

Most people who buy Nintendo consoles don't care about specs. I mean the 3DS is still selling pretty weil considering it's age and that thing really looks archaic These days. The Switch is fine. It doesn't need moah powah for dem grfxx. It just needs more games and those are coming. Considering the price tag and the fact it's a portable Device, the looks of Switch games are pretty impressive. Sure, some highend smartphones may have better specs and even prettier looking games. But those very rarely reach the depth of games on Switch. Plus I will never be able to play Bayonetta, Mario Odyssee or BotW on my phone, no matter how beefy the specs may be.

Software sells hardware, Not the other way around. It's as simple as that.

There will be a pro model or whatever they will call it at some point.. but really, they dont need it now.
