Forums - Sony Discussion - Incredibly impressive: Ghost of Tsushima !!!!

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions debuted an nine-minute gameplay reveal trailer for Ghost of Tsushima during its E3 2018 press conference. The quality is impressive, look at this =) PS4-GAMEPLAY, Ghost of Tsushima: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWpVhkwVkpE&t=443s

Ghost of Tsushima is an epic, open-world samurai adventure set during the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274. We’re telling an original story set in the world of feudal Japan—a time of warfare, chaos, and violent change. You play as Jin Sakai, a powerful samurai warrior whose adventure draws on Japanese history and the iconic traditions of samurai cinema to craft a gorgeous tale of revenge, empowerment, and hope. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c87LbOfG7dI

"captured from a PS4pro"

:) hot damn is this a beautifull game.

Not to long ago I re-read James Clavell's - Shogun too.

game looked amazing no doubt and 1 on 1 seems really satisfying, but for enemy groups they seem to go the "enemies come at you 1 by 1" route, which is a shame and looks quite awkward/immersion breaking

Honor was a big thing amoung samurai.
In Shogun the book, theres a scene when a lady samurai is being kept prisoner (politly) but she takes offense, and has orders to leave by her master (hes not there).
When she tries to leave, she and her escorts are stopped.

They are massively overpowered... like a escorte of 50 samurai, in a enemy base of 10,000+.
Never the less the first escort, when told they arnt allowed to go, and he has orders to escort them outsides, sets to attack the samurai telling them they cant.

This leads to the scene I mention.
Because its a enemy base of 10,000.... what happends is 1 of those guys, takes on that 1 guy leading the escort.
When he kills one of the enemy, another steps forwards to stop him.
And when he eventually falls, another of the escort steps up.

Its 1 on 1..... all the way until the 50 ish samurai escort are all killed (50 men no matter how good, cant beat 10,000+ in single combat).
The lady samurai is forced to retreat.

Her dishonor at failing her masters orders, sets her on a path to commit seppuku, which in turn also shames the ones that are keeping her prisoner.

To be fair in the trailer theres only like 1 point, where it coulda been 2 on 1.
May be in the game it does happend, and its not all 1 on 1?

Thanks for this gif !! I want more with good quality in future

PS: The video shows a side mission from the game, according to the developer :)

My highlight of the Sony conference as well. I thought the Gameplay looked excellent, the graphics were top notch, and the presentation is on par with what SIEWWS has been delivering all generation. This was obviously a small sample of what is to come. Need to find out if this is wide linear or open world. Very interested to see some bigger battle scences, and how much more depth we will unlock in combat.

I was a little underwhelmed tbh. I love the setting, most of the visuals, and the concept but the fighting looks a bit... dull. Kinda reminds me of Assassin's Creed's combat, which is the thing that turned me off that franchise in the first place. Coming to this after watching TLoUII's gameplay walkthrough also, it just doesn't feel very ambitious.

I hope the stealth scenarios become much more complex than what we saw with him entering that building from above and then just insta-killing everyone. Hoping for some large scale village infiltrations once the Mongols take over territory, for example, where you're incentivised to methodically take out enemies using different approaches and weapons. A sort of modern Tenchu.

Side note - glad there'll be Japanese voices and subtitles, that's definitely going to be the best way to play it. Hearing them speak English when everything else about the game is steeped in ancient Japanese culture is a bit jarring.

Still high on my radar, but it's slipped well below TLoUII after seeing them both in action.

I actually had the same thought as I was watching it.
