My concern is that they shouldn't be wasting their resources on Lets Go and instead focus totally on Gen 8.

Nah thats silly, Lets Go is going to sell a ton and be very profitable.

Its like saying they shouldn't waste resources on remakes or expanded versions.

unlike this game, the expanded versions are worthwhile to play.

It well sell a lot, but it looks like they are putting the casuals first before the core fanbase, which is sad.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

That was pretty cool

So you think it would be better to have no new titles this year, even though there's a good chance that Let's go will still be pretty good games?

Yes, that's exactly what I think. However, there is not a good chance that let's go will be good game. Doing Kanto YET AGAIN, with only the original 151, with dumbed down wild battles, and features such as breeding removed.

Put even more devs on gen 8 instead.

It's literally a yellow remake, and you expect it to be bad? When all other core games aren't Your

thinking will be very wrong come November.

Their is nothing that proves that the 2019 game will have another direction.

Why make this one so different?

It's like you don't even try to understand the definition of "spin-off" ...

No mate, you're the one that doesn't.

Fallout: New Vegas is a spin off  yet it is more complex then any mainline Fallout game.

It doesn't mean that the next mainline game will be completely different.

Yes, it is.

Just as much as Let's Go is.

Your rejection due to pity emotions means nothing though.

Are you high? I just showed you how a spin off can be more complex then a mainline game.

Yet you think that Let's go being a spin off means it will be no where near to the next mainline game.

No, you just don't take the time to reflect upon what I answered to.

My claim is that Let's Go is a spin-off game to the mainline ones. Period. Never said it would be more complex than anything presented in mainline games.

No it isn't. I was complaining about the direction the game took, and how that reflects on the next mainline game.

If your whole point is that it is a spin off, then you have no point at all.

So it would seem this is one of those games Nintendo were referring to when they said they had more games coming this year aimed at expanding Switch's audience.

Also I kinda hope random encounters stay dead, it's a horrible mechanic.

The textures and overall level of detail would've been subpar on the Xbox 360 much less the Switch. Even with the same art style it could've had much nicer textures, lighting, effects, and overall detail.

I'm sure they could up the lighting and effects with a flick of a switch on whatever engine they're using.  They chose not to.  It's supposed to be simple.

It's still understandable though that people feel a tad short-changed when a high profile Switch game looks below the standards of a console that released in 2005.

It's about what I expected too, just saying I can see where people are coming from if they feel a bit let down that this is on the same machine that brought us Mario Odyssey and Kingdom Battle.

True but Mario and Zelda and Xenoblade, these are all console entities.  Their predecessors were already not just console games but HD ones, giving the devs substantial foundations to build off.  Pokemon is now making that HD jump.  This strikes me more as a New Super Mario Bros U or Wind Waker HD, a first step.

There have been more impressive first HD leaps than this though even on weaker hardware; Mario Kart 8 and Xenoblade Chronicles X, and for instance. Again, this is pretty much what I personally expected as Gamefreak tend to be technically conservative, but I do understand where people are coming from when they say they expected more from a high profile Switch release.

It's understandable that outsiders might be perplexed.  But I'm thinking the overlap between people who are looking forward to Pokemon and those who care about lighting effects is rather small.

For myself, the visuals are much exactly what I would expect.

The graphics are about what I expected too. I can simply understand why some people are disappointed given it's releasing on hardware capable of so much more.

I wonder how to pass a johto or hoenn pokemon.
Maybe they'll release a pokemon let's go pichu / togepi in 2021?

I liked playing with a single joycon in a single hand. Best feature.
Trying to see the good side of not battling wild pokemon: No more using repel for avoiding zubat is neat. No grinding might keep it more challenging (for those who don't play pokemon go), you only have the limited exp of trainers to beat the game.

I just want Johto in this. I know I won't get it so I'll skip it and continue to skip the switch.

If it was going to be a spin-off, at the very least it could have been a spin-off with some substance. Instead we got a gutted and barebones reboot of Pokemon Yellow mixed with Pokemon Go. The only way Game Freak could pass this off was by calling it a spin-off because otherwise it would just seem like a rip-off.
