Seems pretty much like what people expected.

If it wasn't to do that then I don't know why it was delayed in the first place.
I mean outside of cloud saves they didn't really add anything new. |
The reason they delayed it, is because Smash Bros. wasn't ready yet. Plain and simple.

The, "and even more games added regularly" as part of the 20 NES games with new online deal has me intrigued.
I'm hoping that they'll move beyond just NES and include SNES, N64, or even GameCube.
Old school Mario Party and Smash Bros. Melee with online? YES, PLEASE!

Knowing myself I would use the online service to play NES games and not even bother with online. I wonder if they will have Final Fantasy 1 at launch? That game is perfect for mobile since you grind so much in that game.

Ah I see. And Yeah I would love it if like holding the home menu while in a game can let you access the voice chat or its settings. But I feel like the Switch may be too weak to have it running in the back...... Sorry just me guessing stuff lol

I think the Switch is powerful enough, what I think the problem is is that Nintendo seems way to conservative on the OS. I don't see why at the very least game invites can't be universal or why messenging isn't here.

Considering they already had a game in Splatoon 2 to launch alongside NSO, I don't think that's the case.
Edit: well not launch alongside, but more showcase it. Pretty much the same thing though.

Well, this is awful. A NES VS hidden behind paywall, basic functionality like online multiplayer and backup copies of saved games behind paywall... This is just basic stuff stripped away and put back on sale at an extra price. At least it's not as expensive as the other ones...

$60 a year, plus just $20 more. I don't need to pay for anything, it's a luxury expense at the end of the day. Still...I compared the two because it's all relative. Once I'm paying for both, 75% of my online fees will go into the PS ecosystem, 25% into Nintendo. Given I'll likely play Switch online more than 1/3 of how much I play on PS4...it's not hard for me to rationalize. Obviously free would be better...but knowing this is a paid service is honestly old news at this point. The surprise here is what's being offered, which mostly falls in line with what I was expecting. |
It being a paid service isn't new to me either but it being 35 dollars a year is. That's my sticking point here because Nintendo did not announce that price originally. I can't justify that price on top of what I already pay for my other consoles.
