Oh, Actually I would also like to see a new Mario Party. I don't mind if it's not the old style (I liked Mario Party 9, 10 not so much) but I would like it if they tried to refine the board play of Star Rush and The Top 100. I think that could be a suitable replacement for classic style they just need to make decent and more varied boards this time around.

Their messaging seems inconsistent because, probably, they don't feel like they need to repeat every single detail, every single time to talk about it.
Their press release for E3 is crystal clear.

You are literally focusing on what's not important. The news here is what they added - unlike in other years - about games coming after 2018.
The rest is more of the same and that's why i said, from the start, that this time their E3 plans were different.

Honestly i only remember saying something about the first half. But if you say it, i'll trust you.
But, was i wrong? What Nintendo made title is there for the first half? None.
You can say Labo is a game, but we won't agree on that, that's for sure.
I'm not ignoring ports and 3rd party titles, i'm talking about Nintendo games. The same thing i have been saying for a long time (remember when i compared Wii U's and Switch's first 10 months?). I have been talking about Nintendo's own games, first and foremost.

Kirby and Mario Tennis aren't 1st party games. And in that regard, Nintendo has not done well.

We were talking about new game announcements and therefore, M+R does not count.

First you said that Fifa had a correct amount of time because it wasn't exclusive. Now, it's because it wasn't a new announcement. ;)
That argument is not relevant: when you have a game of that caliber you use it to your advantage. That's the actual reason why Rocket League was shown/revealed that way. Same goes for Skyrim, btw.

So, your idea to handle a "bad" situation is to just come out, running, and announce something of that magnitude? You speak as if people didn't already expect a Pokémon game on Switch.
Exactly what did Nintendo announce after the really bad reception that Federation Force got when announced? Or, what did Nintendo announce when Retro revealed that their new game would be another DK game (Wii U era)?
Nintendo does NOT run their business like that: when things go sour they manage it. They don't go announcing things everytime something bad is ill received by fans.

I stand by what i said: they announced Pokémon and MP4 because they had no other heavyweights that they could spare for E3.
Just look at the release Schedule. What's the big title announced since E3? Smash.
Pokémon may or not get released in 2018, but even their latest release schedule says "2018 or later".

They could have announced Smash. Sure. And then what would they have for E3 this year?
They managed what they have to show.

It would be a dream come true for me if Kid Icarus Uprising 2 and Luigi's Mansion 3 were announced.

It's been years. I'm used to them only announcing games for this year and not beyond. I used to freak out thinking that Nintendo didn't have enough games, but now I know better; they simply like to unveil games within their release window, not years ahead of time. They have like what, at least 6 directs in a year with new games announced at each? I'm good with E3 being only short-sighted.

I have liked this format over the past few years. Even when they focussed on Breath of the Wild only, it seemed like a smash hit.

Of course, they don’t have games like Zelda on the radar this year... maybe Pokemon. But I don’t expect something like Breath of the Wild again until the next Zelda.

Interesting they say this on top of the usual focusing on immediate future babble that's never true. Might mean they actually mean it this time, which would go along with what I was thinking. There's potential for this E3 to be one of the greatest ever with reveals for Pokemon, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Smash, Bayonetta 3, SMTV, on top of whatever brand new announcements they have (Animal Crossing, Pikmin 4, Mario Maker 2, etc.). However, I think that would be way too much hype for one event, and Nintendo seems to agree with their statement eliminating the aforementioned god E3 as a realistic possibility. Should still be an exciting show of course!

E3 2016 is my favourite E3 ever.

BotW blew my mind and couldn't stop looking all the day for Zelda news.
