Forums - General Discussion - Does anyone still watch cable tv?

I cancelled my cable subscription a few years ago. Don't regret it one bit, Netflix and Internet streaming has all I need.

I don't watch TV anymore. The only thing I'd go back to is WWE, other than that, nope.

No, I don't have cable. If I did though I would mainly use it for NHL, Premier League and WWE.

Honestly football was the last reason we had cable in our house. And since they have issues with their heads up their assess last season we've cut came entirely and just ride the internet. Our primary means of entertainment is the PS4/PSVR, Netflix and the Amazon Fire stick with the Kodi App. Along with movie we buy or rent from Redbox. We also have a could PS3. I have a super slim we got maybe a year ago and my original 80 gig fatty. She just won't die.

Yeah, i still watch cable TV. First because i'm in canada. The streaming offert is limited compred to the USA, things like netflix have way less choice here.

Second, i'm not only canadian, but french canadian. the Netflix offer is crappy in canada, but it's even crappier if you look for a french dub, and most of the time it will be a dub made in France, which make me hear bleed. Anyway half of what i watch is produced locally, so it's hard to find on internet.

And finally, unlimited bandwith is very costly in canada, so i have a 200gb data limit on my internet.

I almost never watch TV. And when I do, it's cable (or digital television as we call it here).
Why? Because Netflix doesn't have the news or the public broadcasting specials which are amazing in Belgium.

You do realize there is much more stuff on the internet than just Netflix right?

There is in fact so much news formats on the internet that cable TV is pointless to me

I like the digested nature of the public broadcast news. I also read newspapers online, but most news outlets quality (including most "quality newspapers" has taken a nosedive), especially on the webs. The public broadcast is the only newssource I trust fully (98-99% levels of trust I'd say).

I use PS Vue for sports mostly. Mostly watch Netflix.

Ok but you do realize you can watch the public broadcast news online right?

I don't know what part of the country you hail from but in the French speaking part we can watch the news broadcast from the RTBF online, I don't need cable to watch that. I have to assume it's the same in the Flemish part.

And to that you can add a lot of other news outlets broadcasting live online. Euronews, France24, BFMTV etc. You can even find live broadcasts of CNN, Fox News etc. And I won't even talk about radio broadcasts that are pretty much all available online and live.

I very rarely watch Cable Tv anymore. Nothing really on that interests me anymore that I couldn't just watch on my PC

I just find it more convenient to watch the public broadcast on TV. The news of 19 o' clock is just the right moment before dinner, so I just watch that.
