New Nintendo product, new fail prediction thread.

Classic :>

I for one will not be surprised if Labo becomes absolutely huge and sells 30m units. But this is a wildcard, no way to predict, it could flop, or it could not.

What do you consider to be a flop?

I think maybe you are trying to define flop in relation to Nintendo's major franchises. I doubt Nintendo thinks Labo is gonna sell 10 million. It is a niche product. Its basically a kids toy. I think it might hit 2 million lifetime and I would consider that a major success. And I don't expect big sales on release week either. I imagine it will sell decently during the holidays as that's normally when kids get presents and in general will just sell a few thousand a week for a few years.

Kids toys are expensive, Labo would be probably one of several "big" gifts for Christmas for a middle class kid.

What do you think you get?

Cardboard and minigames. However the general public (just an assumption, based on comments on it) thinks it just the cardboard.

Still way too expensive for what it actually is.

You expresss concern about the general public thinking Labo is just cardboard...

I'm over gear wondering if the general public is aware of Labo's existence in the first place...

Do people here feel like people that don't frequent video game fan forums are aware that Labo is a thing???

Genuine question, I would love to hear some answers...

Have a nice day...

That's crazy! This isn't a major Nintendo franchise game. It's a kids toy peripheral. 2-3 million would be a great success for Labo! Switch's user base is people in their 20s and 30s. Some of those people have kids. Labo is aimed at getting those parents to buy Labo so their kids can play with the Switch too. Labo isn't going for a Mario/Zelda/MarioKart/Smash audience. I don't know in what world you think selling 2-3 million kid's toy peripherals would be a flop!

OK, which games are a flop at 2-3 million? A new GTA selling 2-3 million would be certainlya flop, but that is the outlier. 2-3 million for something new, something that needs crafting skills (which isn't that common among gamers), something pretty expensive as it contains physical stuff - this is not  bad.

I think nintendo invested a lot into this project and looking for a kinect like hit.
