Forums - Sales Discussion - Sonic Forces sells more on Switch than any other console combined

Some downgrades are of course inevitable, but the Switch version of Forces took it too far. It looked worse than Sonic Lost World on Wii U but ran at half the framerate. Switch may be weaker than PS4/Xbone, but it's not that weak.

Switch is the lead platform in sales, so it should be the lead platform in development, it's only logical.

Well, there is no way to compare objectively, since Lost World wasn't released as a multiplatform barring the Steam release which in itself is a port. I kinda feel there is more going on in Forces, though. It certainly plays a lot faster.

To use a multiplat example, Generations looks better than Forces on Switch and we know for a fact that Switch is considerably more powerful than PS3/360. PS4 was clearly the lead platform and the Switch version was clearly cut down from that one fairly haphazardly.

In light of the sales however, it makes more sense to make Switch the lead platform for future entries; make them the best they can be on that platform, then just bump the res and other settings up for PS4/Xbone.

Wow! That is impressive!

because it's a game that fits the Switch well.

Isn't Sonic Forces pretty much universally hated and considered a bad game? And that's the type of game that fits the Switch well?

It isn't hated. It's just that a lot of fans of Sonic Generations felt underwhelmed by it. It wasn't a terrible game, but also didn't do anything to push the series forward. Also, some fans are getting tired of having Sonic games set in these post-apocalyptic settings.

That seems reasonable, so long as the PS4/Xbox One versions don't end up being gimped to keep them close enough to the Switch version.

Oh you wouldn't need to gimp those versions, they could still turn up the effects, resolution, etc to take advantage of the extra horsepower.

Hi curl. I agree with this. It's only logical.

If it proves anything it's that people who own a PS4 or Xbox One have better taste when it comes to games which feature a blue hedgehog.

Agree, look at their charts, top game always is Cod and Fifa for mature gamers

*Looks at the best selling PS4 games and sees nothing but yearly iterations of Fifa and CoD*

So?

So they have the best taste of real mature gamers

Sonic Mania wasnt poor quality and it probably sold best on switch..... Is there a point your trying to make with nintendo.... or sega/konami? Im gonna guess the former

Sonic Forces is what we’re talking about here though. I’m just wondering - how do poor games sell so well on the Switch? Add 1-2 Switch to the list.

Sonic Forces sold best on Switch because the majority of the fanbase plays Nintendo consoles now.

Bomberman and 1-2-Switch sold well because they were both launch titles and exclusives.

Poor games also sell on other consoles, just look at Knack. It was a first party launch title, just like 1-2-Switch.

?? Don't know what your point is, but the original post was talking about Sonic games. And besides, FIFA and Cod, as much as you don't like them, have been well received by critics so lets stop talking as if the were shovelware or something like that
