I'm pretty sure it's gonna finish second place, when you consider that its competitors are actually the PS4 and the Wii U.

Depends on which generation the Switch is.  It’s not exactly a 4k beast, or even as powerful as the PS4.  It also released around the time of 8th gen half-steps, so I’d consider it Nintendo’s 2nd shot at the 8th gen.

Gens are arbitrary. We have hardware coming out at different times and power obviously doesn't matter.

Agreed, it’s an outdated and misused concept. Some generations (1 and 2) were fabricated in retrospect and make no sense, like they were completely tossed together in a whim.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? The PS4 is the current king being overthrown. The Switch is killing it, not the other way around.

And the speed at which Switch will pass it is astounding. Very soon we will be already betting on when it'll happen.
