Wait, hold up now. Let me get this Straight. A Legend of Zelda game has never sold more than 7.5 million, and after a year, BOTW is going to have around 5M in sales on Switch. But BOTW is definitely doing more than 10 million yes?

However, because God of War has never sold more than 4.8 million, it's impossible for it to hit 10 million?

Even though there are 60 million more PS4 owners than Switch owners? Are you sure about this?

Nintendo generally has much better attach rates on their first-party titles, and Zelda is going to have a lot of legs.

It's a bet I'd be up to, anyways.

So how do you explain Skyward Sword?

An Exclusive Zelda game on Wii that had an install base of 90+ million when it was released, and sold...... 4 million copies.

This is a sad comparrison. GoW has never sold 5 million. Labo will likely have at least 4 standalone packages. It's like pitting 4 games to one, with that one (GoW) not being a crazy, crazy seller in the first place. The craziest claim in this thread, though, is that GoW would outsell Zelda on the Switch. BotW is almost at the ceiling for GoW titles and it hasn't even been around for a full year. How, how can people speak with such certainty when the numbers are readily available on this site? I can only assume that many posters don't know about the tools this site offers, or they suffer from an affliction which many VGC users suffer from when they first arrive here: that your favorite core or hardcore game or genre is somehow a major seller...and they sadly usually never are.

I think Labo sells 2:1 over GoW.

Gow 3 sold more than 5M on ps3 alone, here on vgc it is undertracked

By how much? And using what source?

GOD OF WAR, i think GOW outsells Zelda on the switch.

God of War 3 being the continuation of a cliffhanger in GoW 2 was far more relevant than a forced continuation of a complete story, and that did not even sell 1 mil more than Skyward Sword.

God if War 4 is going to be great, but to think it will outsell BotW on Switch is a joke.

I should have added that BOTW is exceptionally well received, expands beyond the usual audience of Zelda, and more importantly to my previous points, also released early within the system's lifecycle (which increases both legs of a game, and total sales, in general.)

A more adequate comparison would be with Twilight Princess, in terms of expected distribution of sales, (the game sold 4.1 million by the end of 2007, 58 weeks and 2 holidays after it released, and ended up with over 7 million, lifetime, on the wii.) - it's not a far stretch to expect BOTW to double its sales from where it's now.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

We can use the same reason that GoW2 only sold 4M copies with 150M+ install base

Indeed we can. But never did I make a claim about what I think God or War will sell, did I?

I just don't quite get how people think it's obvious that the Switch version of BotW is a shoe-in for 10M. That's not to say it won't.

God Of War is a single player game so it will sell well for awhile and drop off.

Labo FTW

Motion plus required, so a lot of the userbase didn't have access to it. On top of that, most of the userbase left a year before to move to other devices.

Is tracking 1,4M copies ahead of Twilight Princess in the same timeframe. Of course, we only have VGChartz numbers, but is safe to say that BotW will, at least, sell 8M+
