That must be why Sony was fined in places like Australia for Tax Avoidance or has made the list for unethical companies that do profit transferring to avoid tax. yep a highly ethical tax paying business.

Generally speaking, things are more expensive is "poor" countries because those countries have oppressive governments.  That means high taxes and tariffs, a need to pay bribes, etc.  

Its not just sales taxes or VAT.  Its big taxes on the fuel used to power the truck that delivers it to the store, the high cost of electricity (due to taxes) to light the store that sells it, etc.  

All companies, and persons, should do their best to avoid paying taxes.  That's just basic good sense.  

And I completely agree with that, I'm just pointing out someones hypocrisy.

These things are likely to get cheaper as time goes... I remember paying the equivalent of $500 today for a PS2 back in 2002, in Israel. Now prices for consoles back there are quite close to Europe, even if a bit more expensive still.

It's the same reason why goods are more expensive in Europe than they are in the US. Those countries charge higher taxes. That cost doesn't get eaten by the manufacturer. You pay for it.

You should play the 6 GOW games, Infamous 1 and 2 and Demon's and Dark Souls, Batman Arkham Asylum and City and Red Dead Redemption all of which are better than the games you mentioned. They are also pretty cheap except for the Souls games.

Christ it is the internet, grow up. it would have taken you all of a few seconds to find relavant links. all companies do their best to avoid every cent of tax they can and yes that included Japanese companies.

Yep gotta buy Gow soon , but I have a lot of backlog as it is, will get there eventually though, thanks for the suggestions :)
