Oww yes, NPD... sure some months took weeks for us to know...

Nope MS never said how many units they sold since 2014 or 2015... and have converted to only say the revenue of the whole unit, for Xbox they only say what was the MAU.

I guess thats what happens when it is low compared to the competitor like the Vita with Sony and Nintendo with the Wii U.

Kind of, but I don't remember Nintendo or Sony totally hiding the numbers... you can more or less see how much PSV sold... and the case is MS were talking every month of the numbers and how it was selling faster than X360, then faster in US, then MAUS.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

ZhugeEX who has access to the data has confirmed it.

And it's units.

Congrats to Nintendo and Microsoft.

I am thinking XBO beat PS4 in December by a minimal margin but lost to Switch which he decided to leave out.

^ this.

Also its revenue... not total sales. Xbox having the Xbox One X at the price they did, and it being new and shinny toy for xbox useres, its not unthinkable it's the reason their revenue is higher.

Sales wise it could well be the same as last few years.

Of course, the narrative has started. Looks like we will have to wait until January to stop it.

Good for the Xbox and the Switch and at least this puts a bit of suspense in an otherwise boringly obvious victory of the PS4. Don't get me wrong, the PS4 wins overall and most importantly worldwide. But seeing the Switch and the Xbox putting some kind of resistance within a specific month and in a specific territory makes it interesting.

In my opinion this is due to the Switch crushing it so yeah it makes sense that it goes head to head with the PS4 from time to time and the Xbox1X still being this new thing in conjunction with December being the biggest month of the year. It means people want powerful systems which is good for whatever the future PS5 will be.

Why do MS have to do confusing announcements when it is about their X1 sales?

If Microsoft just announced that they sold more Xbox One units than PS4s while not acknowledging the Switch in those figures as an 8th gen console, it would make them look pretty petty and unprofessional to "pick a fight" with the PS4.

Very good news for all console makers since you know that even in 3rd place the PS4 had great numbers in December. It also puts in perspective how much the $200 deal helped the PS4 in November.

So, Microsoft officially care about console wars.

Only during the Christmas shopping season when it counts.

The Nintendo Switch is the "real king" and is Killing It™.

Unstoppable beast.

Yes very wrong indeed. Who the hell they think they are? Is there a department of fair online posting that we can complain to? Don't worry I'm onto it! 🤓
